Process for the preparation of a vat dye of the thioindigo series. It has been found that by condensation of 2-aminoperinaphtoxypenthiophene of the formula:
EMI0001.0006
and its derivatives substituted in the naphthalene nucleus with 2,3-diketodihydrothionaphtenes of the general formula:
EMI0001.0010
EMI0001.0011
where R1 is a radical which splits off during the condensation. arrived at new vat dyes, which are remarkable as the first green vat dyes of the thioindigo series.
In the present process, instead of 2-aminoperinaphtogyphenthiophene and its derivatives, it is also possible to start from a 2-azylaminoperinaphtoxypenthiophene and its derivatives substituted in the naphthalene nucleus and split off the acyl group by saponification before the condensation.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of a yellowish green coloring good dye of the thioindigo series of the formula: by condensation of 2-Aminoperina.pht "oxypenthiophene with a 2,3-diketodihydro-4,5-benzo-6-chlorothionaphten body of Formula:
EMI0002.0007
wherein R, denotes a radical which splits off during the condensation.
When dry, the dye is a black-green powder, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color, it gives a red-dyed vat with alkaline hydrosulphite and dyes cotton and wool in this vat in strong yellow-tinged green tones. Example 257 parts of 2-acetylaminoperinaphtoxypenthiophene (obtainable, for example, according to the process of the German Reich Patent No.
414084) are mixed with about 900 parts of fuel, then 450 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid are added and the pale one is heated on a water bath while stirring. When the hydrolysis is complete, the mixture is cooled and the 2-aminoperinaphthoxypenthiophene which has separated out is filtered off in the form of its chlorohydrate. It is purified by extraction with about 50% boiling fuel, filtering off and precipitating the solution with an excess of concentrated hydrochloric acid.
The 2-aminoperina.phtoxypenthiophen - chlorohydrate thus obtained forms yellow crystal needles which easily dissociate in water.
32.5 parts of? -Aminoperinaphtoxypenthiophene chlorohydrate are dissolved in 250 parts of hot glacial acetic acid, 32.5 parts of crystallized sodium acetate and then a suspension of 48 parts of 2- (p-dimethylamino) anil of the 2nd 3-diketodihydr o-1. 5 -benzo - 6 - chlorothio- naphthens in about 700 parts of glacial acetic acid. The mixture is heated to boiling with stirring for a few hours.
The dye separates out in the warm, it is filtered, washed and dried after cooling.
Instead of the anil one can use the 2. 3- Diketodihy dro-4. Use 5-benzo-6-chlorothionaphten or 2-dichloro- or 2-dibromo-2,3-diketo-dihydro-4,5-benzo-6-chlorothionaphten.
