Description
Process for the preparation of anthraquinone-2-p-alanine. It has been found that alanines of the anthraquinone series are obtained if halopropionic acids are allowed to act on aminoanthraquinones with or without a diluent and expediently in the presence of an acid-binding agent.
The smooth reaction leads to bodies whose alkali salts are mainly suitable for dyeing animal fibers and plastics, such as acetate silk, and are to be used as starting materials for new dyes.
The present invention is a process for the preparation of anthrachinone-2-ss-alanine, which is characterized in that one ss-halopropionic acid, z. B. ss-chloropropionic acid, can act on 2-aminoanthraquinone.
<I> Example: </I> 22.3 parts by weight of 2-aminoanthraquinone are mixed with 21.6 parts by weight of ß-chloropropionic acid and 45 parts by weight of diethyl aniline in 200 parts by weight of o-dichlorobenzene to 140 to 150% > heated until the dye dissolves in soda. Diethylaniline and o-dichlorobenzene are then removed from the reaction mass, which has been made clearly alkaline, by steam distillation and the anthraquinone-2-ss-alanine is deposited as the sodium salt or as the free acid.
The sodium salt is a reddish-yellow powder that dissolves in water with a yellow color, which turns red-orange when caustic soda is added. The free dye crystallizes in orange-colored needles; it pulls orange-yellow on acetate silk.
