Equipment for the production of counterfeit embossings in the printing press. It is known to imitate embossing for decorative prints by dusting the still moist print with resin powder, possibly with the addition of bronze dust or the like, and melting the powder that has only adhered to the print lines after removing the excess by heating the print . This creates a decorative print with raised high-gloss lines that not only deceptively imitates the significantly difficult and expensive embossing, but is also preferable in many cases due to the lack of the corresponding embossing on the reverse, especially where the reverse is described or who should be printed.
Up to now, expensive calender chairs were used to heat the dusty prints, and the prints were carried out between the rollers, which were heated by means of glass or electrically. Since such decorative prints make up a relatively small part of the total orders of a printing company, the purchase of calender chairs usually does not pay for itself, so that the method known per se is rejected by most printing companies as not worthwhile. In many cases, the formats involved are small, and the heating of large rollers in itself makes production uneconomical.
The present invention now aims to enable the method to be carried out on a printing press of any type and essentially consists in the fact that a heating plate heated, for example, electrically or by gas, is inserted into a printing press in such a way that it produces a dusty print during the printing process without it to touch, is brought so close that it causes the resin powder to melt by thermal radiation.
In the drawing, three different embodiments of the subject invention are shown. Fig. 1 shows a heating plate, Fir, inserted in the closing frame. 2 shows an electrically heated and FIG. 3 shows a plate which is heated with gas and is attached to the grippers in a perspective representation.
According to the exemplary embodiment of the device shown in FIG. 1, an expedient electrical heating plate 1 in the manner of a cliché is inserted into the clamping frame of any printing press in such a way that its surface comes to lie a little deeper than the printing surface. 4 is the closing frame in which the heating plate 1 is held firmly by the closing webs 3 in the height position suitable for the melting process. The power is supplied through insulated lead wires, which are not shown in the drawing, and the current strength is set so that the resin powder melts almost instantaneously at a distance of a few millimeters.
If the frame with the heating plate is placed in an ordinary platen printing press, for example, the dusty prints can be inserted one after the other and melted at the rate of normal printing. It will be understood that the heating of the plate, rather than electrically, could be in any manner, e.g. B. by steam, he could follow.
The illustrated in Fig. 2 electric heating plate 1 is fixed with screws to the Grei remote 5 and therefore makes the same movement with the same. The current is supplied through the flexible cables 6. The attachment of the heating plate to the grippers 5 proves to be particularly advantageous for large editions, because the heating plate moved with the grippers cannot be gradually heated to such an extent that it is unsafe or impossible to work with, as it was when it was placed in the clamping frame 4 becomes. This also avoids excessive heating of the other parts of the press, since the heating plate can only exert a heating effect on the latter during the short time it is introduced into the interior of the press.
A restriction of the Wärmeausstrah development of the heating plate to those points of the format, which are embossed ver adorned, can take place by covering the remaining parts of the heating plate, as shown in FIG. The surface of the heating plate facing the pressure is provided with a large number of evenly distributed screw holes that are closed by screws 7 ver.
At those points that are to be covered by the appropriately cut pieces of cardboard; Instead of the smooth screws 7, screw plugs with the tip 8 protruding outwards can now be screwed in, onto which the pieces of cardboard are fastened by pressing.
In Fig. 3 an embodiment of a device for gas heating is shown. In the surface of the flat box-shaped heating plate 1 are numerous, evenly distributed burner nozzles 14, which are provided with small screw threads and can be closed by screwing in screw pieces so that only the part of the heating plate used is heated. The gas flows into the interior of the box through the pipe clip 10, which is formed at the lower end to a tap housing .11.
The axis of the straw housing lies in the connecting line of the joints of the gripper 5, so that it only executes a rotating movement, but remains in place when the gripper is folded down. The feed pipe 13 opens into the cock vortex 12. The cock bores are arranged in such a way that the gas supply is throttled but not completely shut off when the gripper is opened. When the gripper is folded down, the tap is fully opened.
