Une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'in vention est représentée, à titre d'exemple, au dessin annexé, dans lequel La fig. 1 représente l'appareil et la ser rure principale d'une machine à tricoter vus de dessous; La fig. 2 est une élévation _latérale de l'appareil ; La fig. 3 est une coupe transversale sui vant la ligne III-III de la fig. 2 ; Les fig. 4 et 5 montrent un détail en plan et en élévation respectivement;
Apparatus intended for rectilinear hosiery looms for obtaining patterned knits. The present invention relates to an apparatus intended for recti-line hosiery trades comprising two needle beds with valves, a carriage carrying the main lock with the cams which act on the needles and means for throwing yarns of different colors on the needles successively, an apparatus being removably mounted on said carriage in order to be able to act on the needles of a needle bed and allowing, one of the lifting cams of the carriage which corresponds to this bed being deactivation,
to produce various patterns in knitting by means of threads of different colors using a drum with dividing organs acting on the heels of the needles.
Apparatus of this type known hitherto are generally unwieldy in construction and therefore give insufficient production. But above all they have the disadvantage that they can only produce stitches during the movement of the carriage from left to right, that is to say to obtain a pattern consisting of stitches of two different colors in each horizontal row. , it takes four strokes of the carriage. To such a row of the design to the right of the knitting, correspond four rows of plain stitches on the purl side; this therefore results in a heavy and not very elastic knit requiring a lot of material.
The present invention must overcome these drawbacks.
In the apparatus according to the invention, the drum has its axis directed transversely to the direction of movement of the carriage, a connecting cam being arranged on the underside of the apparatus to connect the main lock with cams cooperating with the dividers, cam forming during the race of the carriage from right to left a guide path such for the needles which have not formed stitches on the previous race from left to right, that a single divider is sufficient for forming a row of. their neck stitches differ during one revolution of the carriage.
Thanks to this arrangement, it is possible to double the production of the machines known until now by the fact that one obtains on the drawing side -a horizontal row of meshes composed of groups of meshes of two different colors during two runs of the carriage instead of four as before. In addition, the production is increased because it is possible to work faster due to the simplicity and practical arrangement of the dividing mechanism.
Thanks to the fact that only two rows of purl stitches correspond to one row of stitches in the pattern where you knit, instead of four as before, a great saving in material can also be achieved. knitting, and handling the stitch is considerably easier, because only one divider is needed for a row of stitches in two different colors.
In addition, it is possible to obtain with this apparatus a perfectly elastic knit having the appearance of a patterned knit obtained with a Jacquard rectilinear loom.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 shows the apparatus and the main lock of a knitting machine seen from below; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the apparatus; Fig. 3 is a cross section along the line III-III of FIG. 2; Figs. 4 and 5 show a detail in plan and in elevation respectively;
Fig. 6 schematically represents the path traveled by the needle heels during a travel of the carriage from left to right, and FIG. 7 represents this path from right to left.
The main lock .S shown in fig. 1, being well known, does not require description.
The apparatus comprises a frame 1 screwed securely to the carriage of the loom and directed pa rallying to the stroke of the carriage. In this frame is articulated at 28 an inner body 2 which supports the drum 3. Urr stop hook 4 maintains the inner body in working position against a coil spring 27, fixed, on the one hand , to the inner body 2 and, on the other hand, to a rod 1 arranged on the frame 1. Four dividers 5, 6, 7, 8 of well-known shape and operation are housed with their respective axes in this drum 3, a toothed pinion 11 being placed on each axis of the divider at the end opposite to it.
The drum 3, mounted on an axis 9 arranged transversely to the direction of travel of the carriage and being housed in the walls of the inner body 2, can be rotated by the lever 10 so that only one divider is in the working position. and its respective toothed pinion 11 in the grooves of the needle bed. This position is determined and maintained by two stop pins 12 which engage in holes in the handle 10.
To place another divider in the working position, that is to say, to turn the drum 3, the lever 10 is pulled outwards to release it from these stop pins 12. When passing from position d 'stop of the next divider, a spring 14 surrounding the axis 9 pushes the lever towards the device and engages it in the eyebolts.
The lower face of the body 2 carries the same guide cams 15 and 16, according to the known arrangement.
A connecting cam 17 is removably attached to the lower face of the device, connecting the main lock to the cams cooperating with the dividers.
In one of the ends of the connecting cam 17 there is provided an entry 18 allowing both the screw 19 of the body 2 to engage the round head therein. At the other end of the connecting cam 17 is a plate 20, intended to be placed in the lower part of the entrance 21 of the chute 22 of the main lock. In order to ensure the position of the plate 20, the drop 22, which, for the assembly was brought to its highest position, is lowered until its point 23 is stopped by the upper edge of the connecting cam 17. In this position, the chute 22 covers the plate 20 and retains it in the inlet 21.
The end 24 of the lan watch 17 touches the lower inclined face of the cam 25, the cam 26 being embedded in advance in the interior of the lock.
When the appliance is not used for knitting, it is put out of the working position. To this end, we first remove the link cam 17, which is done quite simply by raising the chute 22 to its highest position and pulling the link cam slightly in the direction towards the lock to release it from it. the screw 19. Then turn the stop hook 4 slightly towards the outside of the device. The spring 27 causes the inner body 2 of the frame 1 to pivot around its axis 28 and lifts the inner body to a sufficient height so that the cams 15 and 16, as well as the divider turned downwards and its pinion 11, are out. contact with the stiletto heels.
The operation of the device is as follows. For the beginning of a knitting, we proceed as usual. When it comes to starting the drawing, the carriage being to the left of the loom, care is taken to raise the chute 22 to the top of the stroke and to put the cam 26 out of action. Then the link cam 17 is mounted in the manner indicated above.
The travel of the carriage from left to right is carried out in the usual manner of the apparatus, the distance covered by the needle heels for this travel is shown in fig. 6.
Once the carriage has reached the right, the thread change lever is operated to disengage the thread that has worked and to engage a thread of another color. In the race from right to left, the heels raised in the previous race pass through passage 30 again, while those lowered remain lowered and pass under the cam 16, the link cam 17 and the cam 31. The heels the vee follow the upper edge of the link cam 17 and arrived at the main lock, are lifted by the end 24 of the link cam which touches the cam 25, they meet the chute 32 and are lowered to form and drop the stitches corresponding.
The carriage having returned to the left, the dividers are changed by turning the drum 3 using the lever in one direction or the other. As the operation is repeated, there is thus obtained on the front of the knitting during the course to the right a series of groups of stitches of one color and during the following stroke to the left. a series of groups of stitches of another color; these groups being placed alternately on the same transverse row. The needles of the rear needle bed will be operated in the usual way during races in both directions of the carriage.
