Um das Auftreten uner- wünschter Verbindungen in deincliinieröl zti verhindern, wird der Kondensator 3 be- nutzt, welcher eine sehr wirlisanie Tenipera- turregelun;
gestattet.

Method and device for the production of lubricating oil from petroleum. The invention relates to a Ver drive and a device for the production of lubricating oil from petroleum. The term "petroleum" is intended to mean not only crude petroleum, but also petroleum derivatives that are produced by distillation or in some other way.
The method according to the invention is based on (let petroleum be distilled in the presence of water vapor at a sufficiently low absolute pressure in order to achieve lubricating oil vapors mixed with water vapor without the formation of significant amounts of cracked products that the temperature of the mixture thus obtained from water and oil vapors are reduced enough without any significant change in the absolute pressure to distill off the desired lubricating oil fractions,
and that the uncondensed part of the mixture is passed to a space in which there is a higher absolute pressure and in which the water vapor is condensed.
In the drawing eire device for performing the method is shown schematically, for example.
The device has the following main parts: a tubular preheater 1, a bladder 2, a lube oil condenser 3, a steam cooler 4, an ejector 5, a condenser G for cracked products, a lube oil cooler 7, a separator 8 and a) Vasserdampfkondensator 9. Der The greater part of this device is supposed to work under vacuum and is designed in such a way that it can resist external pressure.
The preheater 1 has a pipe coil 1.0, which lies in a furnace 11 which is not illustrated in a way that is heated. The 01 to be preheated is fed into the coil 10 by a pump 12.
and the heated oil is fed into the bladder 2 through a tube 13. In the pipe 13 a valve 14 is provided in order to keep the oil under low pressure in the pipe coil 10, for the purpose of preventing the formation of steam and foam in the pre-warmer and the VQrwärmer 1 from the bladder? shut off. The bladder 2 has a tubular body 15 with a dome 16.
In the bottom of the bladder \? is a perforated steam pipe 17, through which steam can be blown into the Ülbeschicküng. The tube 17 is equipped with a valve 18. The bladder 2 is arranged above a h'euerunb 19 which is heated by a burner 20 under the control of a valve 21.
A thermal insulation layer 22 reads around the bladder 2 and the mandrel 16 Leeruni. C11 vapors and water fumes are fed into the dome 16 through a pipe 23 into the lubricating oil condenser.
The lubricating oil condenser has a tubular sleeve 24 which has a head piece 25 at each end. Between the liolif pieces 25 there are pipes 26,
through which, with the help of a pipe, a fan 28 presses air. In the pipe 27 there is a flap 29 to regulate the air flow through this pipe.
The lubricant oil condenser 3 is also seen with an insulating jacket 30 to avoid heat loss zii.
The lubricating oil condensed in the condenser passes through a siphon 31 into the Schmicrtilkülrler 7, which has a container 32. Through this container can circulate water with the help of pipes 33 and 34 'What.
The cooler also has a loop 35 into the container 32 arrf, and this loop extends through the bottom of the container 32 and is in connection with a pipe 36 with a valve 37 a @ sse @ üste- part. The pipe 36 is finitely connected to a lubricant pump 38.
Uncondensed clans or vapors which pass through the lubricating oil condenser 3 are passed through a pipe 39 to ch, ni steam cooler 4. The latter be partly made up of a container 40 through which water can circulate with the help of full pipes 41 and 42. In the container 40 there is a coil 43 which is connected to the ejector 5 by a pipe 44.

1) <<g procedure is about. carried out in the following manner: The starting material used is advantageously t'etrolcum, from which the more volatile fractions have been removed. It has been found in practice that an oil from which all fractions boiling below 288 ° C. at atmospheric pressure have been distilled off is well suited for the purposes of the invention. The starting material is passed through the Vorwär men 1 through into the bladder 2 expediently at a temperature which is close to that which is desirable for the start of the De stillation.
As soon as the bladder 2 has been charged, the valve 14 is closed. Since the valves 46, 37, 53, 59 and 18 are closed, the absolute pressure within the device can be reduced to the desired point with the aid of the air pump 62, the. Sucks air and steam to the desired level. Heat can be supplied to the starting material in the bladder 2 with the aid of the burner 20, and its temperature can easily be determined by the thermometer 68.
In practice, for example, the bladder 2 expediently works under an absolute pressure of 5 mm of mercury, which is indicated by the knife 66. The pump 62 is used to generate this high vacuum or the initial low absolute pressure.
By opening the valve 18, water vapor is introduced through the pipe 17, so that a mixture of oil vapor and water vapor leaves the bladder 2 through the pipe 23. For example, when the method is being carried out, sufficient water vapor can be fed in so that the vapors passing through the pipe 23 contain 10 / a of their own weight water vapor. The water vapor used at this temperature and pressure has a volume approximately 20 times that of the oil vapors flowing through (read pipe 23.
The partial pressure of the oil vapors in the bladder 2 with a total pressure of 5 mm is maintained at approximately 1/0 or approximately 0.4 mm of mercury. At this extremely low partial vapor pressure, the oil evaporates quickly, and a very high quality lubricating oil is distilled off from the petroleum if. the petroleum is heated to a temperature of about 141 C.
It has been found, however, that even with the most careful initial refining of the petroleum for the production of the starting material and even with extremely favorable operation of the device described, it is inevitable that two certain cracked products will form in the bladder. These products are formed by breaking down the hydrocarbon molecules in petroleum into cracked molecules that have fewer carbon atoms.
The cracked molecules boil unsaturated and have a lower boiling point than the petroleum molecules that make up. they have been formed. Since they have a lower boiling point, they pass very easily as steam through the pipe 23, and since they are unstable, they tend to add some very undesirable properties, for example bad ones, to any lubricating oil in which they can condense Color and smell, and besides, they tend to produce resin-like substances.
It has been found that when using water vapor in the bubble 2, the amount of these cracked products can be reduced to a minimum as a result of the low partial vapor pressure and the low temperature at which the distillation takes place.
It has been found, however, that it is impossible to prevent the formation of a small percentage of these undesirable compounds even if water vapor is used in a large excess compared to the above. Some of these undesirable cracked products can of course polymerize in the bladder 2 or later to form other compounds.
In order to prevent the occurrence of undesired compounds in the disinfecting oil, the condenser 3 is used, which has a very flexible tenperature control;
allowed. By blowing air by the pump 28 through the pipes 6, it is possible to cool the oil vapors present in these pipes to an ejvünsc.hth degree, and by adjusting the valve 29, the amount generated in the condenser 3 can easily be reduced Degree of cooling - will be.
It has been found that if the temperature drop of the vapors flowing through the ionic densalor 3 is kept very low, it is possible to practically eliminate any condensation from undesired products.
In practice, the device can finite a temperature drop of 4.71 to −3.5 C in the condenser, so that the vapors leaving the condenser 3 through the pipe 39 have a temperature indicated by the thermometer 711 of only 4,
71 "to 47" C below the temperature indicated by thermometer 69 that of the Rolir _i; Vapors flowing into this condenser: have.
This makes it possible to deliver a lubricating oil after your slilion: 31 which is essentially free of unacceptable products.
The siphon 31 is kept filled with this U1 and acts as a liquid seal in order to prevent any vapors from flowing through into the cooler 7 and to prevent these vapors from condensing.
The lubricating oil, which is directed to the cooler 7 at a slightly lower temperature than that in the bladder, is cooled down. and at a lower temperature, passed through tube 36 and valve 37, sucking it in by pump 38 and feeding it to a suitable, non-illustrated container.
The vapors flowing through the pipe 39 who then in the cooler 4 are substantially cooled. This cooler is "fed" with cooling water and can produce a temperature drop of several times 4 to 7 C. The main

In the bladder 2, an absolute pressure is achieved that is well below the vapor pressure of the available cooling water, because water vapors must be cooled below 15.1 C in order to condense at an absolute pressure of 4.6 mm of mercury. If, therefore, an attempt were made to use pressures of 5 mm of mercury or below in the bladder 2 and thereby attempted to condense the water vapor at such pressures, cooling devices would have to be provided for this condensation.
As a result of the use of the ejector 5, the absolute pressure of the steam before its condensation can be increased to a point at which the water vapor can easily be used by ordinary condensing devices such as steam power plants and using cooling water of commonly available ones Temperature, that is from 33 to 47 C, which in a moderate climate throughout the year can be obtained by known devices who can be condensed.
The absolute total pressure in the bladder is kept low enough to achieve a small part of the oil vapor pressure without introducing large amounts of water vapor. This is absolutely necessary if an economical process is to be achieved, since steam is expensive. Because the mass steam consumption is kept up to 10 / o of the weight of the lubricating oil produced, lubricating oils can be refined cheaply and effectively.
The water vapor also plays an essential role in preventing the undesirable products from condensing with the lubricating oil. These undesirable products are in relatively small amounts in the vapors flowing through the pipe 23, and it is possible to keep this percentage slightly below 1% of the total lubricating oil produced. The partial vapor pressure of these undesired fractions is therefore very low when they flow into the oil condenser 3. You do not try to condense quickly with this low partial vapor pressure.
If the water vapor were not available, the partial vapor pressure on the undesired fractions would still be low at the point of entry in the oil condenser 3; since, however, substantially all of the lubricating oil vapors are condensed in the oil condenser 3, the partial steam pressure on the undesired vapors in the oil condenser 3 would be substantially equal to the total pressure. This large increase in the vapor pressure in the undesired compound would cause more rapid condensation of the latter, and considerable amounts would occur in the lubricating oil.
If a large volume of water vapor that has not condensed in the condenser 3 is mixed with the oil vapors, an extremely low partial vapor pressure can be maintained on the undesired vapors that do not condense and are therefore easily transferred with the vapor. The steam also acts as a diluent for the undesirable compounds to prevent their absorption in the lubricating oil.
