La fig. 1 en est un plan; La fi--. 2 en est une vue de face; La fig. 3 est une coupe verticale suivant 3-3, fig. 1; La fig. 4 est une coupe horizontale sui vant 4=4, fig. 3; La fig. 5 est une coupe verticale suivant' 5-5, fig. 4; La fig. 6 est un détail montrant la façon de relier le levier de commande 'à la barre à aiguilles et à l'arbre rotatif pour commu niquer un mouvement alternatif à la barre à aiguilles, celle-ci étant représentée à l'ex trémité inférieure de sa course;
Ceci est dû au fait que l'axe 29a du pivot reliant la biellette 29 au levier 23 décrit un arc ou partie (le cercle, tandis que la manivelle décrit un cercle complet. La barre à aiguilles occupe sa position inférieure extrême lors que l'axe 29a, l'axe de la manivelle 30 et l'axe de l'arbre 8 sont alignés; tandis que ladite barre est située à l'extrémité supé rieure de sa course lorsque ces points sont revenus à l'alignement;
Sewing machine for tubular pieces. This invention relates to a machine for sewing tubular parts, such as for example the sleeves or the legs of a garment.
This machine comprises a substantially horizontal work-carrying arm, on the upper face of which the sewing is carried out and along which the part advances in the direction of the free end of this arm to be delivered, sewn, by said end, said horizontal arm being carried at the lower end of an arm extending downwardly at the end of an elongated chamber-shaped part of the frame of the machine, which chamber disposed substantially horizontally, which contains the main shaft of the machine and towards the other end of which a box projects laterally, the work arm having its free end disposed below the outer end of the latter.
Preferably, the work arm is positioned so that its free end can be seen clearly by an operator seated behind the rear end of the work arm, and looking key up and down. by way of example, an embodiment of the machine according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan; The fi--. 2 is a front view; Fig. 3 is a vertical section along 3-3, fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a horizontal section following 4 = 4, fig. 3; Fig. 5 is a vertical section on '5-5, fig. 4; Fig. 6 is a detail showing how to connect the control lever to the needle bar and to the rotating shaft to communicate reciprocating motion to the needle bar, the latter being shown at the lower end of its race;
Fig. 7 is a similar view, but shows the needle bar at the upper end of its stroke.
The machine shown comprises an upper frame part 1 in the form of an elongated socket-shaped chamber. This part 1 is itself located at the upper end of a console 2 which is integral with said part. L-b console 2 extends sensitive. from one end of the length of the socket to the other (fig. 1.). The console 2 has a horizontal base 4 from which it first extends upwards and then bends laterally. It is arranged to be waved on a table.
-. the front end of part 1, at the end located on the side where the operator is to be placed, there is a frame element 6 extending vertically downwards (fig. 2 and 3 ) </ B>. A the lower end of this element, one vertical arm 6 is attached to the work arm 7.
This arm could be cast separately from]. 'Element 6 and from the support member por as this element. In the example, the vertical element 6 is divided into a point comprised between its ends, and the. upper part of said element is made of cast iron with the upper frame, while the lower part of said element is made of cast iron with the work-carrying arm. This simplifies the movement of the frame.
The work-carrying arm 7 is arranged in a horizontal plane from the lower end of the vertical element 6, and its longitudinal axis is situated in a vertical plane which intersects a vertical plane containing the longitudinal axis of the part. 1 of the frame at an acute angle.
The vertical plane containing the longitudinal axis of the work arm is shown at ca-a in fig. 4, and the vertical plane containing the longitudinal axis key to part 1 of the frame. is indicated in b-b.
This inclination of the work-carrying arm relative to part 1 of the frame (finished. 3 ) is such that the operator is seated so as to have lo. machine in front of him, turned so that the axis of the shaft is directed from front to back, the vertical element 6 being the closest key the operator, can easily see, over the part, 1, the fabric passing along the work arm and in particular the seam zone, which is located at the outer end of said arm which is located there. further from said operator.
In 1c main frame 1 is housed the main rotary shaft 8. This shaft is mounted clans bearings or bearings provided in key transverse elements 9, 10 and 11 made of cast iron with the frame. As a replacement for the transverse element there is provided at the rear end of the frame a detachable bearing 12 fixed in the end of the sleeve constituting the frame by suitable screws 12a. The shaft ends at the front of the bearing 9 and passes through the bearing 12, so that one can mount on the rear end of said shaft a belt pulley 1.3 used for. activate it. The elements 10 and 11 and the detachable bearing each have a recess in which is placed a material suitable for retaining the oil 14.
These recesses in turn have suitable lights 15 opening onto the main shaft and each of them is closed by a threaded plug 16. The shaft 8 is the main rotary shaft of the machine and operates all parts of the machine. machine. The frame carries a box 17 protruding laterally and in which slides the bar 18 carrying the needles of the sewing mechanism. This box protrudes above the free end of the work arm. The bar 18 is provided with two guilles 19 and 20.
In the aforesaid box is also mounted a bar 21 carrying a presser foot 22 which can be of any desired type. The bar 21 is held resiliently against the work holder by a leaf spring 21a (fi- . 4). This blade is mounted in the box 17, and the bar 21 is prevented from oscillating in its bearings by virtue of a pin 21b extending laterally from said bar and lol-é in a suitable slot of the box 17.
The needle bar 18 receives its reciprocating movement from a lever 23 which pivots around a pin 24 mounted in the box 17. This lever is connected to the bar 18 by a connecting rod 25 which pivots at 26 on a projecting tab. a collar 27 surrounding the bar 18 ïi. which it is connected by locking screws.
The rear end of the lever 23 is forked at 28 (fi- (r. .1) ni, carries an axis on which a pivoting rod 29 pivots, on the other hand, by its lower end on a crank 30 of the shaft 8. The crank 30 is located near the cross member 11. (Fig. 4) The shaft 8 is provided with a suitable counterweight 31 opposite the crank to ensure smooth movement of the shaft.
This operating mechanism (the needles are shown in detail in Figs. 6 and 7. Crank 30 rotates clockwise as shown in these figures. The left end of the lever describes a clockwise direction. arc of a circle indicated by the dot-dash line xx and this lever has a shape such that its outer end moves from a point located substantially on the line y = y (fig. 6) to a point located on one side of this line (fig. 7).
When the parts occupy the position of FIG. 6, the needle bar and the needles occupy their extreme lower position. When the parts occupy the position of FIG. 7, these organs occupy their extreme upper position. As the shaft 8 rotates clockwise (one clockwise, the crank describes an arc considerably smaller than 1.80 degrees in the passage of the parts of the position of fig. 6 through that of Fig. 7, and it describes an arc considerably greater than 180 degrees in the return of the parts to the position of Fig. 6.
This is due to the fact that the axis 29a of the pivot connecting the rod 29 to the lever 23 describes an arc or part (the circle, while the crank describes a complete circle. The needle bar occupies its extreme lower position when the axis 29a, the axis of the crank 30 and the axis of the shaft 8 are aligned, while said bar is located at the upper end of its stroke when these points have returned to alignment;
and the fact that the axis 29a deviates from the vertical line yy results in the time that elapses before these points come into alignment is first less, then greater than one (the half-rotation of shaft 8 (fig. 7). As a result, the parts move considerably faster from the position of fig. 6 to the position of fig. 7, which ensures the rapid elevation of the parts. needles which is desirable to disengage the needles from the work before entrainment occurs.
In the arm 7 is housed a looper shaft 32. This shaft pivots in a bearing 33 provided at the front end of the arm 7 and in a bearing formed in a transverse element 35 located near the free end of said arm. . This shaft is also supported by a transverse element 34 forming part of the arm 7. On the rear end of the shaft 32 are mounted two loopers 36 and 361. The needles are arranged along a diagonal line and the looper M < / B> cooperates with needle 20, while looper 26a cooperates with needle 19.
This constitutes an ordinary two-line color mechanism which has been shown in detail only for the purpose of showing a color mechanism arrangement which may be employed in the machine and the location of such mechanism.
The loopers are thread-carrying loopers and, in addition to having a movement capable of engaging them in the loops of needle thread and disengaging them from said loops, they are moved laterally to avoid the needles. The shaft 32 receives its oscillating movement from a link 37. The link 37 is connected by its lower end to a ball joint 39 provided at the end of a radial arm 38 integral with the shaft 32. The upper end of rod 37 is connected to a ball pin 40 carried by an ex centric 41 provided at the end of shaft 8.
This ball pin 40 is in reality a crank, given that it is mounted eccentrically with respect to the axis of the shaft 8, so that, when the latter rotates, the rod 37 moves as a block towards the up and down, which in turn oscillates shaft 32.
The shaft 32 is moved longitudinally to give the loopers an erasing movement relative to the needles, which is obtained with the aid of a rod 42 pivoting on a tab 43 forming part of a sleeve 44 carried by the 'shaft 3 ?, this sleeve 44 being prevented from moving longitudinally on its shaft by collars 44a and 44b arranged on either side of this sleeve and linked to the shaft 32 by locking screws.
Any longitudinal movement given to the link 42 causes the shaft to be seen longitudinally, but the bush 44 is mounted loose on said shaft, so that the latter can oscillate to engage the loopers in the loops of needle thread and the loops. disengage said loops, said shaft rotating freely in the sleeve 44.
The rod 42 is moved Longitudinally by an elbow lever. This rod is connected to the lower arm 45 of this bent lever which pivots at 46 on a transverse shaft mounted in the vertical element 6 of the frame. The small arm 47 of this bent lever carries a ball pin 48 cooperating with an eccentric collar 49. This collar is actuated by an eccentric 50 mounted on the main shaft 8.
The looper thus receives its lateral movements from a transmission actuated by the shaft 8 and composed of three elements: an eccentric collar, an elbow lever and a connecting rod, while it. receives its oscillation movements from a single movable element, namely: A rod connected directly to. a main shaft crank and an arm rigidly attached to the loop shaft. It can thus be seen that the la teral movements of the looper, as well as its oscillatory movements, are carried out using a very small number of connecting members.
This is particularly the case with the oscillatory device. Hence, as soon as the looper has been placed in position and connected @i. the shaft (the control, the risk that any one of the parts will play or that the sulky gets out of hand is very low.
The needle bar receives its reciprocating movement from a lever, one end of which is connected by a link to the bar. needles and the other end of which is connected by flax (, connecting rod to a rotating crank of the main shaft. Thanks to this short positive transmission designed to raise and lower the bar, needles, l The needle retains its original setting and is not susceptible to being out of position by loosening any of the control parts.
The fabric being placed under the work support arm, the two parts to be sewn are raised one by one. side, the other on the other side of said arm, and are; brought back to one another. They are arranged one on top of the other at the point where the stitching takes place.
The sewn fabric is delivered from the free end of the work arm with the aid of a feed dog 51, which moves it away. sewn part of the operator. This claw 51 is carried by a drive bar 52 which is mounted on suitable rods 53 and: 54.
A. the front end of the, machine bar 5? is connected by means of a link 55, dT a crank 5G; which is provided with an arm 57 pivoting in turn on an eccentric collar 5 8 which cooperates with the eccentric 41 provided at the end of the main shaft. We can thus see due the claw of The drive moves back and forth alternately, and the drive bar is raised.
ahaissr @ e <i. the aid of lever 59 which is supported in, wire here; qizi is connected by its front end to. Tin eccentric collar 61 cooperating with eccentric flax 62 mounted on the main shaft.
The drive mechanism aiiii described in a very general way is of the type with a single feed dog having four movements, that is to say a backward movement, a forward movement, a, upward movement and downward movement. This claw acts to deliver the work to the end of the arm porte-ouvra.ge.
The sewing mechanism shown in dry form is suitable for sewing a fabric in which the seam is formed by covering sections of the fabric and for joining these overlapped sections by sewing.
The mechanism controlling the needle threads and the mechanism controlling the looper threads have not been shown in detail, such mechanisms being well known. However, the member controlling the looper threads is shown mounted on the shaft 8. This member 63 (fig. 3 and 4) consists of a disc mounted on the shaft 8 and comprising annular cams projecting laterally and concentrically. to tree 8.
Suitable guides are provided to keep the looper threads in contact with these cams and these cams are shaped so as to pull and release the looper thread at the desired times.
The machine can be placed on the work table in any suitable manner, either with the main shaft 8 arranged at right angles to the front of the table, the work arm having its free end turned towards the table, or with the shaft 8 disposed parallel to the front edge of the table, the machine being cantilevered with respect to the table. When the machine is placed in this latter position, the table is preferably cut so that the operator can sit in the cut-out space in the table and directly in front of the work arm.
