Process for the manufacture of metallic fabrics, fabrics and the like. The present invention forms a method which, with simple and very easily technically feasible measures, makes it possible to use even the finest metallic fabrics, braids and the like, while maintaining and improving their degree of permeability so resistant to some that no warping and no further tearing torn open areas can take place.
The essence of the invention consists in dA the fabric, braid or the like, the elements of which are provided with an easily meltable metallic coating inrl, heated in such a way that the metallic coating is melted onto the base metal, with the intersection or. Contact points of the individual elements are firmly connected to one another.
The method is explained below in one embodiment as an example. A fabric, braid or the like made of bare wire or strip material is galvanically first provided with a coating of easily fusible metal or a metal alloy of such strength that by melting this coating the loosely lying elements at the intersection or. Contact points are connected to each other.
The metallic fabric, for example a metal sieve of the finest number, is brought into a galvanic tin bath free of grease and oxides, which expediently allows the use of higher current densities. The thickness of the tin coating is measured in such a way that during your later onset of annealing process at the intersections or Points of contact of the wire respectively forming the tissue. Tape elements there is sufficient cover metal to ensure a secure connection of the elements at these points.
The metal fabric, which is galvanically coated with tin, is treated with suitable substances before heating, which promote the melting process. As such substances, for example, soldering fluid, soldering paste and the like can be used.

The method according to the present invention therefore creates new products for the fine metal fabric industry, since fabrics made from fine wires with very small mesh sizes in a non-distortable form could not be made at all. In addition, however, the new process also achieves a surprising improvement in the degree of permeability of such goods for the goods to be sifted or filtered even with the finest fabrics, sieves and the like.
In the previous metallic fabrics and wire screens, the ele ments of the fabric and braid cross over each other or loop around and form at the intersection or. Contact points with wedge-shaped indentations that go one another-311. The goods to be sorted become wedged in these depressions and cause clogging of the meshes.
With the new method it has now surprisingly been shown that the coating metal that gets into the flow during the melting process into the front;
(Venous wedge-shaped depressions are almost pulled in under the influence of the capillary action caused by these depressions, so that these depressions are filled or rounded in such a way that disturbing deposits of the goods to be sorted or the build-up of crusts in these depressions is no longer possible.
respectively Contact points of the individual elements are firmly connected to one another.
