Outdoor faucet protecting water pipes from the effects of frost. The present invention relates to an outdoor tap preserving the water pipes from the effects of jelly and is characterized in that inside this tap is adapted and kept suspended a supply tube made of elastic material, intro duced freely and without any fixing inside the part of the piping which this tube is intended to protect against freezing.
The appended drawing gives, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 shows this tap with its feeder tube partly in section, partly in elevation; Fig. 2 shows, in a larger scale, a section taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 shows, on a larger scale, a section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1.
In the valve plug and immediately above the shutter valve A is provided a chamber B intended to house an elastic sleeve C, preferably in rubber. This sleeve C is made integral with a rubber tube D open and free at both ends.
Said sleeve C therefore only constitutes a bulge in the tube itself, thereby providing a fulcrum for supporting this tube.
Above this sleeve C a part of the tube D extends in E below and up to the proximity of the shutter valve A.
A metal ring F encloses the tube while at the same time crowning the upper part of the sleeve C.
Room B is made up of the. metal of the valve itself and comprises around it semi-circular grooves G obtained either directly by molding or by drilling and turning; these grooves G are intended to allow the passage of water. The assembly, chamber B and grooves G, constitutes a homogeneous whole taken in the mass of metal.
The result of this arrangement of the shoulders of grooves H forming stops for the metal ring F and at the same time re turn of the water passage opening out into lights in the circular part above the chamber D (fig. 2). This chamber B as well as the semi-circular grooves G can be closed by the ring h (fig. 3) which has L-shaped passage holes for the water.
When the ring h is in place, screwed into the valve, as shown in fig. 1, there results in 11T a circular channel weaving the water coming through the passage holes L in the semi-circular grooves G.
This ring K furthermore closes the chamber B and traps the sleeve C so as to thus constitute a rubber holder system keeping the latter suspended inside the valve and also preventing it from coming down again.
A 1 @ T connector is attached to the lower part of the tap, which is used to fix the supply pipe P. The seal between the tap and the connector is sealed by means of a leather ring 0.
This tap works as follows: Normally, its total water flow is ensured both by the mass of liquid passing outside and by that passing inside the rubber tube D.
In the event of frost when under the action of the cold it turns into ice, the pressurized water stopped by the valve increasing in volume, first in the annular part between the inner wall of the main pipe P and the wall. outside of the rubber tube D compresses the latter with a centripetal force having the effect of re-treading the water not yet solidified from its central duct into the mass, sheltered from the cold and remaining liquid.
When, on the other hand, the central water vein of rubber tube D in turn solidifies, the last force thus created which results from it secondly compresses this rubber tube as well as the sleeve C supporting it, but this time the reaction of the force is exerted in a centrifugal direction.
Their homogeneous and elastic substance will therefore deform by lengthening in the direction of least resistance, distributing the additional pressure thus created over the whole of the water pipe itself.
