Method and device for covering a fibrous web with a meltable adhesive in a continuous working process. The present invention is a further embodiment of the method and the device for coating a fibrous web with a fusible adhesive medium according to claim I BEZW. II of the main patent no. 93561, in particular for the production of insulating materials for electrical engineering.
In the devices described in the main patent, in which an adhesive stock in solid form, be it in block or powder form, is kept in contact with a heated transport surface, for example pressed against it, in order to be melted off, it is not avoid that the supply, if not in its entirety, then at least to a large extent, is heated and as a result of the heat conduction from the point of contact. However, this is impermissible, especially for certain materials, such as synthetic resins, if there are no disturbances in the good course of the process.
Cooling the supply has proven to be insufficiently effective in these cases. In the method and the device according to the present invention, this disadvantage is avoided. This is because it is sufficient that the adhesive is not pressed against the means of transport, but rather sprinkled on it in powder form. Essentially, only that quantum is heated that is sprinkled on, while an existing supply remains unaffected. It can easily be achieved that only just as much is sprinkled on as should melt.
An exemplary embodiment of a device for carrying out the method is shown schematically in the drawing.
a is an internally heated rotatable roller, b a storage container for an adhesive in powder form, - which is provided at the bottom with a constriction c, from which the material flows out, which thus represents a Streuvorrich device. This can expediently be the gap running over the entire width of the fibrous web to be covered with adhesive, or there could also be a number of juxtaposed nozzles. The outflowing quantity can be regulated by a slide d.
Instead, another regulating device could also be present, for example; smooth or corrugated rollers, variable in their distance, etc. c is the fiber ballin to be covered, which is given a progressive movement by any means not shown and which is guided over a guide roller g and here touches roller a. f </ I> is a scraper to free the roller a from adhering to the adhesive, so that it picks up the new adhesive in a pure state.
The material trickling down from the container b onto the roller a is melted by the roller a heated by the heating device h and fed in a molten state by the roller a to the point of contact with the fibrous web and applied there to it.
A propagation of the heating on the supply in container b by conduction, as in. the supply touching the roller would be the case here is excluded; the supply is to a certain extent isolated from this by the distance from the roller, and it can easily be achieved that only that which is to melt is heated. One can protect oneself sufficiently against the influence of the 'N @ thermal radiation, for example, by insulating the container itself, possibly by cooling it.
Instead of arranging the oil in a forward container, it can also be continuously fed to a spreading device, for example rollers, for example by a conveyor belt from a case device.
