Une forme de réalisation de l'invention est représentée, mais à titre d'exemple seule ment, dans le dessin annexé, dans lequel: La fig. 1 en est une élévation avant, les organes de freinage et de libération du cha riot n'étant pas représentés, La fig. 2, une vue de côté; La fig. 3 est une vue partielle du disposi tif de la fig. 1, les organes occupant une autre position; Les fig. 4 et 5 sont deux vues de détail en élévation et vue de côté correspondante; La fig. 6 montre séparément certaines pièces du mécanisme; La fig. 7 représente une variante; La fig. 8 est une vue en élévation avant, dans laquelle les organes de freinage sont visibles; La fig. 9 représente une variante du dis positif de freinage; La fig. 10 représente une seconde variante de ce même dispositif;
Dans l'emploi de la touche sp@eiale, dite "tabulaire", pour les travaux en colonne, le chien mobile peut à tout moment être mis ho. s d'action de façon à. libérer le chariot. Ce ré sultat est obtenu au moyen d'un levier k (fig. 12) tournant en P. et muni d'un bec Iii' qui peut venir appuyer sur le chien mobile c pour l'abaisser et le dégager de la. roue f (fig. 1);
Exhaust system braking the carriage of a typewriter. The present invention relates to an escapement and braking device for the carriage of a typewriter, characterized in that it comprises, for the escapement, skies carried by a back-and-forth movement support. , on which one is mobile and the other is fixed, the first stopping the carriage when the machine is at rest by acting on the escape wheel, the second cooperating with the first to move this carriage forward each time that a key of the machine is actuated, this device further comprising a key for releasing the carriage, controlling a shaft which controls at the same time as the release of the carriage,
a brake acting in such a way as to prevent the latter from moving too quickly.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, but by way of example only, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a front elevation thereof, the braking and release members of the carriage not being shown, FIG. 2, a side view; Fig. 3 is a partial view of the device of FIG. 1, the organs occupying another position; Figs. 4 and 5 are two detail views in elevation and corresponding side view; Fig. 6 shows some parts of the mechanism separately; Fig. 7 represents a variant; Fig. 8 is a front elevational view, in which the braking members are visible; Fig. 9 represents a variant of the positive braking device; Fig. 10 shows a second variant of this same device;
Fig. 11 is a detail view, and La, fig. 12 is a partial elevation showing the device for releasing the escape wheel from the mobile hammer.
The device shown in FIGS. 1 to 6, 8 and 13, has an AC support, which is fixed to the frame b of the machine. A block c carrying a fixed hammer d and a mobile hammer e is articulated on the support pivots c '. A spring c (fig. 2) tends to hold the block in the position shown in fig. 1, in which the mobile hammer e is in contact with a tooth of the escape wheel f which it stops. This wheel is integral with a pinion meshing with a rack forming part of the carriage.
The support has a shank c3 (fig. 2) on which is articulated a control rod, not shown, which, each time a key is actuated, exerts traction in the direction of arrow 1 on the shank. c3 and rotates the block c back and forth, ie in the direction of arrow 2 (fig. 2).
Block c, in addition to spring c2 (fig. 2), is fitted with a second return spring c <B> '</B>, the tension of which can be increased or decreased by means of adjusting screw c5. This possibility of increasing or decreasing the tension of the return spring c <B> '</B>, makes it possible to obtain, when using large carriages which require a greater tension of the mainspring. of the carriage, a greater rapidity of the exhaust.
The mobile hammer e (fig. 4) is fitted in a groove g of the block c (fig. 4 and 5) and slides on a pin screw g '. It is subjected to the traction of a spring e2 which tends to press it against a stop h1 '(fig. 1 and 6) forming part of a control part h.
The control h has two knobs h3 h4 sliding on two pins i3 and i '(fig. 3) on which it can take two positions. as indicated respectively in solid lines and in phantom (fig. 1 and 3). In each of these positions, it is stopped by a roller i, carried by an elbow lever i1, rotating at i2, and subjected to the action of a return spring i3. Said roller engages in two notches j 'and j2 of the smooth neck piece h.
Operation (the exhaust is as follows: In the position shown in fig. 1 and 2, the machine produces the single or normal spacing.
At rest, a tooth of the wheel f abuts against the mobile hammer e. When you press any key on the machine, the shank o3 is pulled down, and the top (the support c tilts backwards (arrow 2), the mobile dog leaves the toothed wheel f, the latter rotates slightly so that the tooth which has left the mobile hammer comes into contact with the fixed hammer The mobile hammer returned by the spring e2 (fig. 1) comes into contact with the part h limiting its travel.
When the pressure on the key of the ma chine ceases, the block c straightens, the two dogs come back forward, so that the fixed hammer in turn abandons the tooth of the pinion and the next tooth comes up against the hammer mobile. The exhaust sprocket has thus advanced one tooth.
The same operations are repeated identically when pressing the following key and so on.
Double spacing is obtained by moving part h to bring it to the position shown in solid lines (fig. 3). This operation can be done instantly by entering the accessible part of part h. Pebble i leaves notch j 'and goes into notch j2.
Fig. 7 is a variant where the stop device of the movable hammer is replaced by an eccentric roller d ', pivoting at d2, actuated by a rod d ", connected to a control lever.
When using the special key, called "tabular", for work in columns, the mobile hammer can be set to ho at any time. s action so as to. release the carriage. This result is obtained by means of a lever k (fig. 12) rotating at P. and provided with a spout Iii 'which can press on the mobile hammer c to lower it and release it from the. wheel f (fig. 1);
a return spring k 'tends to hand hold the lever 1é. out of contact with the moving dog. This lever k can be lowered directly by a lever <I> 1, </I> rotating at b 'and provided with a beak coming into engagement with said lever k. It is also possible, which is the general and usual case, to lower it by pressing the. tabular key will go carried by a lever go '(fib. 1); this acts on a flexible control n, attached to the lever k.
It is therefore understood that by pressing the in key, the lowering of the mobile hammer e and the release of the carriage are produced.
To prevent the carriage thus freed from moving too quickly and from producing, either at fixed stopping points or at the end of travel, a sudden impact detrimental to the or- planes, a brake is provided (fig. 8). by an elastic blade o, clamped against a drum p integral with the wheel f, by a flexible control q passing through a sheath q1.
This brake is actuated by lowering the tabular key an which rotates an axis r (fig. 8) carrying an arm r1 on which the control cable is attached. The blade o when applied against the drum p, flexes elastically on its base. The blade @ 1 acts as a support for the sheath q.
Fig. 9 shows a variant of the brake consisting of a cable s, wound around a drum p, and stretched by means of an elbow lever t and a connecting rod t1, actuated by the axis r.
The brake control can still be constituted by flexible transmission and the viers. Thus, to avoid the cable bend at point q1 (fig. 8), it can be cut at this point and reattach it to a system of levers t t1 (fig. 10), similar to that of fig. 9.
The pressure of the clamping blade o can be facilitated by articulating it at its base u (fig. 10). The return springs u1 and U2 move it <B> from the </B> drum during normal work. In this case, the blade o1 serves as a support for the sheath q- and for the spring u1 and as a point of attachment to the spring ic. Hooking screws v1 and v "(Sig. 5) allow key adjustment of the voltage (the cable.
