Zusammensetzung geleitet: 1 Raumteil Azetylen, 1,8 Raumteile Chlor, 9 Raumteile Wasserdampf.
Process for the preparation of a mixture containing dichloroethylene, trichlorethylene and tetrachloroethane. By, the main patent is a process for the production of a dichloroethylene, trichlorethylene and tetra; chloroeth-an containing the mixture is protected, which is characterized by the fact that chlorine is brought into effect on acetylene in the presence of sufficient amounts of steam at high temperature.
According to the present invention, a mixture of chlorination products of acetylene consisting predominantly of trichlorethylene is obtained by adding at least 1.8 parts by volume of chlorine to 1 part by volume of acetylene in the presence of at least 1 part by volume of water <B> 3 </B> at high Temperature are brought into action.
If these conditions are observed, about 50% of the total yield of chlorination products is obtained in the form of the valuable trichlorethylene. If more than 1.8 parts by volume of chlorine are used for 1 part by volume of acetylene, the yield of trichlorethylene remains practically constant, while the yield of tetrachloroethane increases at the expense of the yield of dichloroethylene.
The amount of water vapor to be used is of course to be selected in such a way that explosions are prevented in all cases. In practical operation, for example, 4 to 9 parts of water vapor to 1 part of chlorine will apply. It is advantageous to use the steam wholly or partly overheated. In general, working temperatures from 400 to <B> 600 '</B> come into consideration.
In the presence of catalysts, as wel che Cu C12, Fe C13, Ca C12 etc. come into consideration, it is possible to work at lower temperatures, for example those between 400 and 200 '.
<I> Example 1: </I> A gas mixture of the following is passed through a melting tube of 35 mm diameter heated to 580. Composition: 1 part acetylene, 1.8 parts chlorine, 9 parts water vapor. The reaction product contains 33% dichloroethylene, 48% trichlorethylene, 8% tetrahlorethane and 11% higher chlorinated products.
<I> Example 2: </I> The following gas mixture is passed through the same pipe at the lead temperature: 1 volume part acetylene, 2.2 volume parts chlorine and 6 volume parts water vapor. The Pbe action product contains: 16 'o dichloroethylene, 51% trichlorethylene, 20% tetrachloroethane and 13% higher chlorinated products.
