Description
Process for renewing the damaged ends of boiling and smoke tubes for flame tube boilers by attaching a replacement tube piece by means of an electrical one
Resistance welding.
The invention relates to a method for renewing the damaged end of the boiling and smoke tubes for flame tube boilers, for example locomotive boilers, by attaching a replacement pipe section using the electrical resistance welding.
The essence of the invention is that the overlapping butt ends of the pipe sections to be joined are exposed to the radial pressure of two roller electrodes, one of which rolls on the outer circumference of the overlap, the other on the inner circumference of the overlap.
This enables a smooth and bead-free weld for any pipe width without any further reworking with the lowest possible energy consumption.
The drawing illustrates application examples of the process.
According to Fig. 1 and 2 of the drawing, the mutually facing ends of the pipe pieces a, b to be united, of which a is the boiler pipe freed from the damaged piece, b denotes the renewal piece, at c, c 'are either set off (Fig. 1) or beveled (Fig. 2), so that # the nested ends #overlap.
The ends of the pipe sections prepared in this way according to FIG. 1, for example, are then placed between two roller electrodes d of a resistance welding machine according to FIG. 3, so that one roller d is on the outer circumference of the overlap, the other roller on the inside circumference of the overlap rolls off.
Since the overlap can be chosen as wide as desired, it is also possible to place two or more ring seams next to one another, whereby an arbitrarily high level of security for tightness can be achieved.
The same applies to the type of connection shown in FIG. 4, according to which the replacement part b in a widening e of the boil. tube a is inserted, in which case the roller electrode on the outer circumference of the widening e, the roller electrode d roll on the inner circumference of the pipe section b.
