Le régulateur I (fig.
Adjustment facility. The object of the invention is an adjustment installation, used for example for adjusting the voltage in an electrical network.
It is characterized in that it comprises two motors running continuously in the opposite direction to each other, a differential which connects the two motors and one of the parts of which remains stationary as long as the two motors are running at the same speed, but moves, when the speeds of the motors differ, and then actuates an organ controlling the adjustment of the quantity to be regulated, as well as a regulator placed under the dependence of this quantity and causing variations in the opposite direction to one of the 'other in the speeds of the two motors, when an adjustment must take place.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the installation, in which the magnitude to be adjusted is the voltage of an electrical network.
Fig. 1 is a diagram of the electrical connections of this embodiment; Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are a front view, a side elevation and a plan of this embodiment; Figs. 5, 6, 7 show details. The electrical network in question above is supplied by several alternators whose excitation circuits are in turn supplied by one or more exciters in the inductor circuits of which field rheostats are interposed; these are actuated simultaneously by the above embodiment and move between two normal limits, as needed.
If, however, an accident occurs, such as a short-circuit, the limit normally limiting the travel of the rheostats in the direction of de-excitation is erased and these rheos tats can move in this direction further than before, so that the voltage in the network takes an abnormally low value. The various rheostats, not shown, are actuated simultaneously by an adjusting shaft 1 (fig. 3, 4) using a chain wheel 11 and a chain 2 (see also fig. 2).
The shaft 1 is itself set in motion by a toothed wheel 12 and a toothed ring 3 integral with the casing 4 (see also fig. 5) of the differential A connecting the two motors B, < / I> C These two motors B, C are two direct current shunt electric motors which are supplied at constant voltage, rotate continuously in the opposite direction to each other and which are varied the speeds in the opposite direction to each other while simultaneously modifying their excitation currents. The armatures 5 ', 5 of the motors B, C are inversely connected to the two main conductors 6, 7 of the direct current supply network, so that they rotate in opposite directions.
As for their field windings. 8 ', 8 they are in communication, at one of their ends, with an auxiliary conductor 9 connected in a way that the drawing does not show to the conductor 7 , at the other, with one end of the resistor 10 of a rheostat D common to both motors B, C Resistor 10 is subdivided into sections connected by conductors 11 to insulated keys 12 which are arranged in an arc of a circle situated in a vertical plane and on which a rotating conductor arm 13 moves, permanently connected to conductor 6:
When the arm 13 is on a middle key 12, the two currents in the bearings 8B, 8 are equal and the motors B, C rotate at the same speed; if it moves to the right or to the left from this middle position, it increases the current flowing in one of the windings - the speed of the corresponding motor decreases - and reduces the current flowing in the other winding. - the speed of the second motor increases.
The shafts 14 ", 14 of the motors B, C are connected by couplings 15, 16 to two shafts such as 17 belonging to the differential, coaxial, rotating in bearings 18 and each provided with an angle wheel 171. The shafts two angle wheels 171 mesh with two idle angle wheels 191 on a common shaft 19 perpendicular to the two shafts 17 and rotating in bearings 41 of casing 4. As long as two motors B, C and consequently the shafts 17 rotate in reverse at the same speed, the wheels 171 do turn the wheels 191 around the axes thereof, but do not rotate them with the shaft 19 around the axis of the shafts 17.
As soon as a speed difference occurs, on the other hand, the wheels 171 force the wheels 191 and the shaft 19 to rotate with the casing 4 around the axis of these shafts 17.
The regulator I (fig. 1- to 4) actuates the movable arm 13 of the rheostat D depending on the voltage in the network supplied by the alternators. It is of a known type described in the disclosure of the main Swiss patent N 16471 of April 9, 1898 and is operated by the motor C by means of grooved pulleys 20, 211 and a belt 221. The shaft 21 of the pulley 211 sets in motion, in a way that the drawing does not show, a lever 22 used to rotate, sometimes in one direction, sometimes in the other toothed wheel 231 whose shaft 23 is integral of the arm 13 of the rheostat D.
For this purpose, the lever 22 is provided with pawls 24, 25 which are pivoted on it, participate in its movement and can engage with the wheel 231 under the action of springs 26, 27, but are normally prevented from doing so by pawls. 28, 29 also pivoted on it; participating in its movement and subjected to the action of springs 30, 31. Opposite the two pawls 28, 29 are two knives 33, 33. If, during the oscillating movement of the lever 22, one of the pawls 28, 29 strikes the corresponding knife, it releases the corresponding pawl 24, 25 which engages, under the action of the spring 26 or 27, with the wheel 231 and causes it to rotate in the corresponding direction.
The two knives 32, 33 are arranged at one end of an angled lever 34, the other arm of which carries a voice coil 35 of a control device F of the regulator E. The device F further comprises a coil fixed 36 mounted in series with the voice coil 35 and in shunt on the conductors of the AC network to be adjusted. Depending on the voltage existing in this network, the current flowing through F is more or less intense, the mutual attraction of the two coils 35, 36 is more or less strong, the position of the lever 34 varies.
If this tension is normal, none of the pawls 28, 29 collides with the corresponding knife 32, 33; in the event that it is too low, one of the pawls 28, 29 meets its knife and turns the wheel 231 and the arm 13 in the desired direction; when it rises too much, the other knife is placed in the path of the second pawl, which forces the wheel 231 to move so as to move the arm 13 of the rheostat D in the other direction.
A spring 37, of adjustable tension, acts on the lever 34. The two coils 35, 36 are placed in a support 38. A cylinder 39 filled with liquid and one moves a pis ton connected to the lever 34 is used to prevent the latter. this does not vibrate under the action. of the relatively low frequency of the current of the alternating network, due to the periodic variations of the attraction between the coils 35, 36.
The necessary servo-control between the adjustable shaft 1 and the regulator E is obtained as follows: On the one hand, the spring 37 is fixed in an adjustable manner at one of its ends to one of the arms of a lever 40 which is pivoted on the support 38 and the other arm of which is provided with a toothed sector 401 which emerges with a pinion 232 of the shaft 23 of the arm 13 of the rheostat D. When this arm. moves, the tension of the spring 37 varies, as does the position for which the voice coil 3b is in equilibrium with respect to the fixed coil 36.
On the other hand- the bent lever 34 is connected by a spring 41 to a blade 42 secured at one of its ends to the support 38 and connected to the other to the rod 43 of a piston moving in a body of cylinder 44. The chamber located under the piston in the cylinder 44 is connected by a pipe 45 with one of the inlet and discharge pipes of a gear pump .G directly actuated by a gear 14 47 by the 'adjustment shaft 1; while the chamber located above the piston communicates with the second inlet and outlet pipe of the pump by a pipe 46.
When the shaft 1 moves in a given direction under the control of the regulator E, it turns the pump G in a determined direction which sucks for example liquid through the first tube of the chamber located below the piston and the discharges into the chamber located above it: the piston goes down. If the shaft 1 rotates in the opposite direction, the pump runs in the opposite direction and sucks in the liquid located in the upper chamber of the cylinder 44 to discharge it into the lower chamber: the piston rises.
As has been said above, the rotation of the adjustment shaft is normally limited in both directions: increase or decrease in the excitation of the exciter (s). For this purpose -l'arbre 1 carries a crank 1 ', (fig. 4, 6 and 7) shown in fig. 6 at a position 90 ° from that shown in FIGS. 4 and 7: the crank button 1 'enters the passage in radial notches of a Maltese cross 50' with six branches wedged on a rotary shaft 50 and sets it in motion by jerks.
The shaft 50 is itself capable of two cranks 502, the buttons 502 of which penetrate in passing into the radial notches of two Maltese crosses 511, 512 integral with a shaft 51. The wheel 511; front (fig. 7), carries a single stop 513 which strikes the left face (position 515 of fig. 6) of a fixed stop 52 during the rotation of the shaft 51 in the direction of movement qu 'perform clockwise and limit the rotation of the shaft' 1 in the direction of an increase in the excitation of the exciters.
The stop .52 is constituted by an arm rotating at one of its ends on the shaft 51 and articulated to the other on one of the ends of a strong horseshoe spring 53 arranged in a vertical plane. ; the other end of the latter is attached to the frame 59 in 54; the arm 52 is bent at 521 de. so that that of its walls by which it rotates on 51 is in the same vertical plane as the spring 53. The other wheel 512, posterior,. is provided with a stop united that 514, which engages during the movement of the shaft 51 in the direction opposite to that of clockwise rotation with a stop 58 (position 517 of fig. 6) and normally limits the movement of the shaft 1 in the direction of decrease in excitatory excitation.
The stop 58 comprises a pawl 581 articulated at 582 on a rod 65 carried by two parts 55, 56 belonging to a rocker 57 which small oscillate a small amount around a horizontal axis trrr; the pawl 581 bears on the latch 57, when the stopper 514 presses on it from top to bottom and then prevents it from passing, but on the contrary allows it to cross it when this stop moves from bottom to top. The rocker 57 is connected to the frame 59 by screws 60 passing with play through the holes that it presents and in which are further housed bushings 61 bearing on this frame by means of spherical surfaces 611.
When the stop 514 moving with the wheel 512 strikes from top to bottom the pawl 581 which bears on the lever 57, the latter pivots slightly from left to right (fig. 6) on the screws 60. This movement of the lever rocker 57 is limited by springs 62 working in compression and interposed between a part 63, integral with the part 55 and a bracket 64 pivoted on the frame 59 in 54. The stop 58 is erased, when an accident such as a short circuit on the network occurs. For this purpose the rod 65 is made of magnetic material and constitutes the core of a solenoid 66 which is energized during such an accident.
The movement of the adjustment shaft 1 in the direction of de-energization is no longer limited by 58, but by the arm 52 against the right face of which the stop 511 then comes to rest, as indicated at 516 in FIG. . 6. The excitation of the solenoid 66 is controlled by a relay placed under the dependence of the intensity of the total current supplied by the alternators and giving rise to such an excitation, when the intensity takes an abnormal value as a result of the short- circuit.
It is also necessary that, during such an accident, the regulator E moves as quickly as possible in the direction of the de-excitation of the exciters. This takes place thanks to the fact that the above relay also controls an electromagnetic device, not shown, serving to move the voice coil 35 of the device F in the desired direction.
The operation of this form of execution is as follows. When the voltage in the network is normal, the arm 13 of the rheostat D is immobile on a central key 12. because the regulator E does not act, so that the two motors B, C turn at exactly the same speed in the opposite direction to each other. The envelope 4 of the differential r1 and the adjustment shaft 1 remain stationary.
8i the voltage in the network drops below this normal value, the regulator E intervenes and produces the displacement of the arm 13 of the rheostat D in a given direction. The two motors B, C then operate at different speeds - and produce a rotation of the casing 4 of the differential A the shaft 1 moves in the direction of an increase in the excitation of the exciters; its maximum displacement in this direction is given by the meeting of the stop 512 and the left face of the arm 52 (position 51 ′ in FIG. 6).
When the voltage, on the contrary, exceeds this normal value, the regulator E comes into play again and pushes the arm 13 in the other direction. The two motors B, C again operate at different speeds and cause the envelope 4 to turn in the direction opposite to that of its previous movement; shaft 1 moves in the direction of a decrease in the excitation of the exciters; its movement in this direction is limited by the meeting of the stops 512 and 58 (position 517 of fig. 6).
In the event of a short circuit on the network, the stop 58 is erased by the action of the solenoid 66, the device, not shown, moves the voice coil 35 and the shaft 1 moves rapidly in the direction of a maximum reduction in the excitation of the exciters, until the stop 512 meets the right face of the arm 52 (position 51 in fig. 6) so as to drop the value of the voltage well below of the normal value and limit the short-circuit current.
The two motors B, C may not be direct current electric motors. The differential and governor may differ from those described.
The installation can be used to regulate a quantity other than the voltage of an electrical network.
