Description
Pocket lighters Pocket lighters of various designs are known in the trade, in principle based on the fact that any easily ignitable liquid, such as methyl alcohol, gasoline or the like, is caused to burn by glowing bodies (platinum sponge) or by sparks (cerium iron).
All these lighters have the defect that the container for the liquid fuel is made of an opaque material, so that one cannot really account for the respective amount of fuel and that it is often too late to notice that it has been ignored only when the fuel is used up, when the lighter can no longer be ignited.
The purpose of the present innovation is to remedy this deficiency by means of a liquid container which is constructed in such a way that one can orientate oneself about the amount of fuel in it at a glance, without having to expose a closure opening and risking loss through evaporation.
This can be done in different ways: The container can be made of sufficiently transparent material; or one or more windows made of a sufficiently transparent material (glass, mica, bakalite, celluloid or the like) can be attached to an opaque container.
