Abstract

L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé pour un filtre à air de chauffage, ventilation et climatisation (HVAC) permettant l'élimination des contaminants moléculaires en suspension dans l'air et les composés organiques volatils (COV) de l'air dans les espaces résidentiels. Le filtre à air HVAC comprend un cadre de support ayant une forme et une dimension appropriées pour orienter le filtre à air à l'intérieur d'un système HVAC résidentiel. Un milieu filtrant est retenu dans le cadre de support pour éliminer les contaminants moléculaires en suspension dans l'air et les composés organiques volatils de l'air qui s'écoulent à travers le système HVAC résidentiel. Le milieu filtrant comprend une combinaison de couches de milieux conçues pour présenter une efficacité de filtration relativement élevée et une faible chute de pression d'air à travers le milieu filtrant. Le cadre de support comprend une pluralité de sections allongées et des sections de coin disposées le long des bords périphériques du milieu filtrant pour supporter le milieu filtrant à l'intérieur du système HVAC résidentiel et de manière à diriger l'air à travers le milieu filtrant.
