Abstract

A versatile hanging garden dual grow pouch used for implanting and growing all types of seeds, seedlings or plants. The material used is made of bio-degradable, recycled, or virgin polyethylene plastic, having half moon openings in a specific section of the pouch. The closed ends of the pouches have a small hole punched through both layers for draining excess moisture.
The bridge area in the center of the two pouches is sealed and has two larger holes punched through both layers for suspension of the pouches. The planter then is prepared for insertion of a growing media and is now ready for placement of seeds, seedlings or plants.

Description

Invention The invention is a portable garden bed for the cultivation of seeds or seedlings or plants. It is a new method for cultivation of seeds, seedlings or plants via suspension.

A) Background Information I . Plants are attractive, as well practical to have in the home, patio or balcony. Many people enjoy the advantages of a garden but do not have the time, space or skills to cultivate successfully.
2. Both health conscious and disabled consumers are in need of an easy portable garden.
There is a need for an invention and a production method in a garden planter that is economical, flexible, easy to grow, suspend anywhere. It is easy to assemble and maintain for the novice, the expert gardener or nursery professional.
3. In order to satisfy a gardener's need to connect with earth, as well as their desire to be creative and imaginative, this new system is ideal for a versatile garden planter which could be suspended anywhere around them. This can include ceilings, walls, balconies and railings. The garden planter will transform into a thriving garden, in which vegetables, herbs and flowers may flourish.
4. As we delved into understanding this market with our suspended garden planter, we quickly discovered there was no knowledge or availability of this type. The investigation determined there was no production familiarity for a device like this or availability. Further analysis determined the various homemade methods of tying, stapling, or taping to gain similar result has never satisfied the home gardener or a nursery professional expectations and demands.
5. A versatile wall and/or ceiling or railing suspended garden planter would fill a clear need. At the same time the suspended garden planter must be able to sustain gravity and the weight of the invention itself, and will maintain a vertical and stable position.
Any prior type hanging devices determined there is not a hanging two sided device that is versatile to include and support the growth of seeds, seedlings plants growth to include herbs, vegetables and flowers in a practical scale.
Example:
Herbs: basil, rosemary, cilantro, chives, oregano, parsley, sage, thyme, mint Vegetables: lettuce, cabbage, peppers, green runner beans Fruit: tomatoes, strawberries Flowers: petunias, pansies, impatience B) Summary of Invention 1. Must suspend or hang or drape above ground.

2. Bridge support and planters one each side must support expectations and novelty of invention.

3. Must hold weight and be useable of all type growing media.

4. Must have a configuration of seeds, seedlings and plant holes for insertion best suited for successful gardening.

5. Must have a support platform to support stem growth support of seeds, seedlings or plants.
6. Must maintain a support back for suspension or hanging.
7. Must sustain watering, drainage and direct sunlight.
8. Must have full advantages of a garden bed.
9. Must be beneficial to consumers and conducive to common methods of production, and material selection.
10. Must be cost effective to support new market expectations of invention.

C) Detailed Description of the Invention Understanding the idea versus the invention led to the transformation of the invention of the hanging dual grow pouch garden bed planter. Many such variations and modifications may be considered obvious and desirable by those skilled in the art based upon a review of the foregoing description of the preferred embodiments. Accordingly, it is appropriate that the appended claims be construed broadly and in a manner consistent with the scope of the invention.

1. The durable low cost formulated flexible material is bio-degradable, recycled or virgin polyethylene with a preferred plastic thickness of five mil thickness ultra-violet stabilized. (Fig. 1) Terracotta, Ivory, and Green are the colour of choice.

2. All of the manufacturing process of the hanging dual grow pouch garden planter (Fig. 1) is designed to be automated and is conducive to present manufacturing processes.

3. Clear instructions are printed on the front area with simple clear steps of invention use and expectations (Fig. 2-1).
a) Fill with seed, seedlings or plant moist growing material into pouch mouth.
(Fig.
1-8) Any excess moisture will migrate to the closed end of pouch (Fig 2-5) containing a drainage hole (Fig 2-9).
b) Seeds, seedlings or plant roots are inserted into half moon openings (Fig.
2-7) and pouch mouth (Fig. 1-8) by pressing in a downward motion through reinforced punched half-moon openings (Fig. 2-7) into growing material and open end of pouch mouth. (Fig. 1-8) c) All seeds, seedlings or plants production may be provided in suspended (Fig. 1) or lay flat on table. (Fig 2) d) Once suspended (Fig. 1) face and top watering or drip system type watering is suggested, as a drainage hole (Fig. 2-9) provides release of excess watering.
e) Enjoy your portable hanging garden, just as you would if it was a traditional garden growing from the ground up.

4. A reinforced bridge (Fig. 2-12) provides placement for two hanging holes (Fig. 2-6) punched precisely at the same time, holes (Fig. 1-6) upon folding to create reinforced Fig. 2-12) saddle for suspension and or a lay flat area for draping over railings, thus suspended from the ground.

5. Eliminates any need of adhering in a one or two staged separate process of applying various hanging handles with different methods of adherent.

6. The back reinforced bridge (Fig. 3-12) is essential for draping (Fig. 1) and or hanging vertical (Fig. 1) area, and or suspending (Fig. 1) from ceiling.

7. Growth support openings are punched in a half moon pattern (Fig. 2-7) retaining a non-punched area (Fig. 2-13) in order to provide a reinforced level planting stations (Fig. 2-7) critical to insertion and support early stem growth (Fig. 2-13) and cultivation of seeds, seedlings or plants.

8. Eliminates any need of current unstable slit type openings and now new punched half moons (Fig. 1-7) retaining a non-punched area (Fig. 1-13) can provide a reinforced level pre-set planting station (Fig. 2-7) for insertion and support platform (Fig 2- 13) for growth of seeds, seedlings or plants.

9. Drainage area punched (Fig. 2-9) at bottoms for release of excess watering to prevent rotting.

10. The invention allows for a simple separation at centre or folding area (Fig. 2-11) to form two separate vertical hanging grow pouch garden planters (Fig. 1).

Steps of Productions 1. Extrude rolls of polyethylene tubing.

2. The roll of tubing has graphics printed on it.

I I

3. The tubing is placed on a converting machine for processing.

4. The material is flattened by rollers and the middle area of the tubing is sealed in two locations forming a saddle area for hanging.

5. The flattened tubing is cut open on each side of the saddle just below the seal forming the dual pouch configuration.

6. The flattened tubing is then run through a punching unit making a plurality of openings on one side of the tubing.

7. A small hole is punched through both layers at the closed ends for drainage of excess moisture.

8. Two large holes are then punched in the saddle area through both layers making a hanging area.

9. The flattened tubing is then cut and sealed along the side edge forming a dual pouch.
Detailed Description of the Embodiment The preferred embodiment is generally illustrated in Figure 1. The dual grow pouch comprises of a front 1, sides 3 and a back 2 with a bridge 12 in between the middle of the two pouches. The bridge is sealed to the back 2 on each side of the fold line /
center line 11 near the openings of the pouch 8. When the dual grow pouch is folded along the center line it becomes the top of the pouch 4. A plurality of half-moon openings 7 with an attached ledge 13 are punched into the front 1 of the two pouches. The hang hole 6 are punched into each front 1 in the bridge area 12 just above the reinforced bridge seal 10 and the pouch opening 8.
A drain hole 9 is punched into the pouches at the closed ends near the bottom 5.
