Abstract
L'invention concerne un guide d'ions ou un analyseur de masse (2) comprenant une pluralité d'électrodes (2a) possédant des ouvertures au travers desquelles des ions sont émis en cours de fonctionnement. Une pseudo-barrière de potentiel est créée à la sortie du guide d'ions ou de l'analyseur de masse (2). L'amplitude ou la profondeur de la pseudo-barrière de potentiel est inversement proportionnelle au rapport masse/charge d'un ion. Une ou plusieurs tensions continues transitoires (4) sont appliquées aux électrodes (2a) du guide d'ions ou de l'analyseur de masse (2) afin d'accélérer les ions le long du guide d'ions ou de l'analyseur de masse (2). L'amplitude des tensions continues transitoires (4) appliquées à l'électrode (2a) peut être augmentée en fonction du temps de telle sorte que les ions soient émis depuis le guide d'ions ou l'analyseur de masse (2) dans l'ordre inverse de leur rapport masse/charge.
