Abstract
A removable exhaust hood assembly with a support mounted permanently on wall and a removable hood that can be easily dismounted by removing a retaining fastener. The support has a special hooked form to prevent water infiltration and to maintain the hood firmly.
Description
BACKGROUND - FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates generally to exhaust vent hood, but more particularly to a hooked exhaust vent hood assembly from wall support plate.
BACKGROUND - PRIOR ART
Exhaust vents hood are air duct components that are generally installed permanently. The replacement of this part can be difficult without causing any damage on wall or other duct components.
Canadian patent application 2,312,320 patent shows a dryer vent with a removable grill. These arrangements allow to remove the grill from the vent hood, however the hood itself cannot be easily removed from the wall. Indeed, these arrangements involve wall nailing and make it difficult to remove the external dryer vent hood without any damage.
Canadian Patent application 2,232,659 shows a hinge-mounted grill that pivoted at its base and clips into the hood at its top. Again, these arrangements allow to remove the grill from the vent hood, however the hood itself cannot be easily removed from the wall.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides an efficient way to replace or change exhaust vent hood. A support plate is installed permanently on wall. The exhaust hood vent is hooked on the support plate by a special geometry that permits to couple exhaust vent hood without water infiltration and to hold firmly in place. A retaining fastener on bottom keeps the exhaust hood from being removed. A hooked hood, that may be removed, offers many advantages. In addition to easy maintenance, the exhaust vent hood can be painted to match the outside wall color.
The foregoing and other objects, features, and advantages of this invention will become more readily apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein the preferred embodiment of the invention is shown and described, by way of examples. As will be realized, the invention is capable of other and different embodiments, and its several details are capable of modifications in various obvious respects, all without departing from the invention. Accordingly, the drawings and description are to be regarded as illustrative in nature, and not as restrictive.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Fig. 1 is an orthogonal view of the exhaust hood assembly in mounted position.
Fig. 2 is an exploded view of the assembly in dismounted position.
Fig. 3 is a partial cross section side view of the assembly in dismounted position.
Fig. 4 is a partial cross section side view of the assembly in mounted position.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Fig. 1 An exhaust vent hood assembly (1) as illustrated is a special exhaust vent hood (3) with hooked shape that is more evident on fig. 3-4. The support (2) is installed permanently in wall (9) and may be attach with nails or screws. The support (2) has an extended cylindrical tube adaptor to be coupled with standard duct components. The retaining fastener (4) can be screwed or unscrewed to fix or remove the exhaust vent hood.
Fig. 2 The support (2) is mounted on wall (9) and has a rectangular mounted front frame (8) in which four flanged member (5-6-7) permit to align exhaust hood (3) with support (2). The top flanged member (5) have a hook shape that, when the hooked exhaust vent hood is correctly aligned, keeps only one degree of freedom.
The retaining fastener (4) is used to block the last degree of freedom by passing through both bottom flange (7) and hooked exhaust vent hood (3). The manner of attachment of hooked exhaust vent hood (3) is of primary importance to the substance of the invention. However, whatever method of attachment would be utilized in this connection, its removable feature would be essential, i.e.
hooked exhaust vent hood (3) can be removed easily from mounting support (2).
Fig. 3 The top flanged member (5) prevents water infiltration and keeps exhaust vent hood (3) firmly in place. The bottom flange (7) acts as a stopper to block the hooked exhaust vent from going up. The retaining fastener (4) blocks the last degree of freedom when screwed and permit removal when unscrewed. The support (2) is installed permanently in wall (9).
