Abstract

Une ligne à retard optique de balayage comprend un élément de parcours optique qui tourne autour de son axe central, de façon à ce qu'une surface soit incidente de façon intermittente au faisceau de lumière à être optiquement retardé. Quand le faisceau n'est pas incident à la surface, il est réfléchi dans une ligne de réinsertions qui offre une seconde occasion au faisceau de croiser l'élément de parcours optique. L'élément de parcours optique peut comprendre un ou plusieurs prismes parallélogrammes, ou des surfaces réflectives parallèles pour offrir une variation de longueur du parcours optique sensiblement linéaire pendant le balayage, lequel est produit par la rotation de l'élément de parcours optique. Une partie fortement linéaire de la rotation peut être utilisée de manière maximale pour fournir un cycle à utilisation élevée, une ligne à retard optique de balayage de linéarité élevée qui permet des applications à débit binaire élevé de haute qualité.
