Abstract

Méthode permettant de séparer une mousse de sables bitumineux, comportant les étapes suivantes : on mélange la mousse de sables bitumineux avec un solvant paraffinique; on induit la séparation du mélange par gravité, dans le séparateur, afin d'obtenir une fraction liquide riche en bitume, pauvre en eau et en solides, constituant la couche supérieure (CxHy) et une fraction liquide pauvre en bitume, riche en eau et en solides, constituant la couche inférieure (H2O); on force la fraction riche en bitume et pauvre en eau constituant la couche supérieure à s'écouler par une sortie située dans la portion supérieure du séparateur, et la fraction riche en eau et pauvre en bitume constituant la couche inférieure à s'écouler par une sortie dans la portion inférieure du séparateur; on agite le mélange de liquides de manière à ce que la fraction pauvre en bitume, riche en eau et en solides constituant la couche inférieure dans le séparateur forme un mélange principalement homogène de solides et de liquides, et à inhiber la formation de couches de matières renfermant de l'asphaltène hautement visqueuses.
