4 The present invention relates to a novel process which makes it possible to seal a 6 artistic painting done in painting under glass.
8 Artistic paintings can be made on a wide variety supports such a 9 wood, canvas, cloth, paper, ceramic, glass or other compound. When finalized, it is common practice for artistic paintings to be simply placed 11 in a setting that more often than not is used to hang the artwork of art or at 12 fulfill a purely aesthetic function. This traditional frame can even 13 have a glass plate on the front and put on a back panel, which are 14 however ultimately ineffective against the hazards of the environment where the artwork is inserted, since the rabbet is permeable. Indeed, the hygrometry rate, oxidation, 16 ultraviolet, sunshine, pollution, atmospheric, gases harmful, oils, fats 17 etc. are all factors that can individually cause total alienation and / or 18 of the work of art whether in the short, medium or long term.
This is how 19 collectors or curators of works of art are trying to artificially control the quality of the environment of the works of art in their custody.
I was interested more specifically in the paintings painting under glass.
23 In this segment, I discovered that all of the above disadvantages listed are 24 suppressed when painting under glass is sealed. I make sure by this new process and / or method of manufacture that the glasses insulate the paint artistic 26 even external matter whether gaseous, liquid or solid.
This new process consists of joining two glasses to make the all hermetic 29 while at the midpoint of this new ensemble, the face of a glass would have received previously the artistic painting and the other, the possible label registration 31 the artwork.
This invention fulfills several purposes.
38 First of all, it makes the work of art waterproof since the painting artistic herself, 39 is trapped between the two glasses that sealed together makes it all waterproof and hermetic. It follows from this impermeability that the work of art preserves the freshness and 41 the brightness of the colors affixed to the glass. Artistic painting performed according to the rules 42 of the art of painting under glass, will not leave any cracking appear and will not yellow 43 not with time. This invention ensures the durability of the artistic painting in 44 its original state. No gas, no chemical component, no material toxic, none oil or no fat, no liquid can penetrate or leave a deposit on the painting 46 artistic since it is completely isolated under his glasses. Of more use 47 of a glass that had been previously treated to control the effects harmful effects of ultraviolet light, 48 will protect artistic painting from the effects of direct exposure to 49 sun.
The invention prevents any modifications and / or alterations by a impostor or 52 counterfeiter, from the original composition of the artistic painting and / or its label 53 as the work of art is impenetrable.
The invention makes it possible to significantly increase the resistance of the work of art in shock 56 possible because its mass has both thicknesses of glasses and a coating 57 non-transparent plastic sealing these. Indeed, the coating used to to bind the two 58 glasses, can by the plasticity of its components absorb shock suffered.
The invention makes it possible to clear the work of art without hindrance of all that has tarnished it or has 61 soiled by the use of a common industrial detergent. The interview of the work is all 62 ease that industrial soaps of any kind can be used to clean the glass 63 and there are no special precautions to take in addition to careful handling of the glass.
The invention also allows the identification of the artist, the reading of the title of the artwork 66 and the period of creation of the work of art by the presence of a registration label.
69 The registration label is not an essential element of the invention but brings 70 however a considerable advantage depending on its wording quick identification of the author 71 of the painting, the work of art and / or its period of creation. here is a example of label 72 of a registration label:
74 "(Title of the work) 75 Original painting on inverted glass 76 Creating (name of artist) 77 (address of the workshop) 78 artwork no. (000) Signature Canada - (date) "
80 This new process constitutes in the field of the conservation of works of art 81 an evolution of current techniques, is useful and is new in its kind.
83 With respect to the drawing illustrating the embodiment of the invention, the figure 'I represents the 84 process for waterproofing a paint under glass comprising a opaque decor 85 made directly on the back of a transparent support. The realization illustrated includes 86 all the elements that make up the invention: the coating 1 makes it possible to to solidarize the 87 glass underglaze decor support with glass 3 while constituting the joint 88 hermetic. The glass 3 receives on its face 2 the label registration number 5 of the work of art 89 while the face 4 is intact. The glass 3 is transparent to allow reading of 90 the possible registration label.
