Abstract

La présente invention concerne un système de communication comprenant un émetteur, un récepteur et une liaison série, dans lequel des données codées (par exemple, des données vidéo, audio et éventuellement d'autres données auxiliaires) sont envoyées de l'émetteur au récepteur. La liaison série peut être, mais n'est cependant pas obligatoirement, une liaison TMDS (signalisation différentielle à transition minimisée) ou de type TMDS. Dans des formes de réalisation classiques, des paquets de données audio codées sont envoyées sur chacune des voies de la liaison pendant des îlots de données entre des salves de données vidéo codées. D'autres aspects de l'invention se rapportent à des émetteurs prévus pour coder des données vidéo (ayant de préférence un des multiples formats vidéo) et pour coder et mettre en paquets des données audio (ayant de préférence un des multiples formats audio) afin de les envoyer sur une liaison série, des récepteurs prévus pour recevoir (et de préférence reformater) de telles données, ainsi que des procédés de formatage, de codage, de mise en paquets, de décodage et de reformatage des données reçues ou devant être envoyées sur une liaison série.
