Abstract

L'invention concerne un réseau informatique formé de multiples noeuds de stockage (103a-106a) comprenant chacun une ressource de stockage physique (121a). Un serveur de gestion du système (150) sur le réseau (100) identifie le dispositif de stockage physique (121a) sur le réseau (100) et l'ajoute à un groupe de stockage virtuel (160). Lorsqu'une application (121) exécutée sur un dispositif de stockage client accède au dispositif de stockage du réseau, le serveur de gestion du système (150) affecte un segment du groupe de stockage virtuel (160) à l'application. Le segment du groupe de stockage virtuel est stocké dans une ressource de stockage physique sur le réseau. Le serveur de gestion du système surveille l'utilisation par l'application du dispositif de stockage du réseau et réaffecte de manière transparente et dynamique le segment virtuel à une ressource de stockage physique optimale.
