Abstract

The present invention concerns a method and an arrangement for use in an electrolysis cell system, comprising a hall with electrolysis cells (C) that use anodes of the pre-bake type for the production of aluminium. The inventi on comprises temporary storage of consumed anodes and other material that are removed from the cells in closable storage arrangements (A, B) arranged in t he hall. The storage arrangements can be connected to an extraction system. Furthermore, during use, the storage arrangements (A, B) are placed at a distance from the cells (C) so that the operations performed on the cells ar e not obstructed by the storage arrangements. The storage arrangements (A, B) are also designed to be connected to an extraction system (4, 5) placed at a distance from the cells. The storage arrangements are specially designed wit h means to reduce emissions of gas to the surroundings and to enhance the efficiency of the cooling process. They are also designed to be transported by a vehicle (42).

Claims (10)

1. A method for the operation of an electrolysis cell system, comprising a hall with electrolysis cells (C) that use anodes of the pre-bake type for the production of aluminium, comprising temporary storage of consumed anodes and other material that are removed from the cells in closable storage arrangements (A, B) arranged in the hall, where the storage arrangements are connected to an extraction system, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A, B) are arranged at a distance from the cells (C) so that the operations performed on the cells are not obstructed by the storage arrangements, and the storage arrangements are also designed to be connected to an extraction system (4,5) placed at a distance from the cells (C).

A method in accordance with claim 1, where the electrolysis system consists of two parallel rows of electrolysis cells (1,2) at a distance from each other, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A,B) are arranged in a formation along a line (3) that is located between the cell rows and is symmetrical in relation to them.

A method in accordance with claims 1-2, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A, B) are also designed for transportation, and used anodes and material from the cells (C) are transported out of the hall in the storage arrangements, while new anodes are transported into the hall using the same arrangements.

An arrangement for use in an electrolysis cell system, comprising a hall with electrolysis cells (C) that use anodes of the pre-bake type for the production of aluminium, comprising temporary storage of consumed anodes and other material that are removed from the cells in closable storage arrangements (A,B) arranged in the hall, where the storage arrangements can be connected to an extraction system, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A, B) are arranged at a distance from the cells (C) so that the operations performed on the cells are not obstructed by the storage arrangements, and the storage arrangements (A,B) are also designed to be connected to an extraction system (4,5) placed at a distance from the cells.
5. An arrangement in accordance with claim 4, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A, B) are designed to be transported by a vehicle (42) comprising a manipulator arm (43) with a hook (40) at its end, and the storage arrangements are fitted with a bow (41).
6. An arrangement in accordance with claim 5, characterised in that the vehicle (42) comprises means (45) for handling one or more covers (25).
7. An arrangement in accordance with claim 4, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A, B) comprise at least one opening (12) with means (15) for rapid connection to the extraction system (4,5).
8. An arrangement in accordance with claim 7, characterised in that the means (15) comprise projections (15',15",15"') that interact with a flange (14) arranged on a hose (10) in the extraction system (4).
9. An arrangement in accordance with claim 4, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A, B) are provided with openings (30,31,32,33) to let in ambient air.
10. An arrangement in accordance with claim 4, characterised in that the storage arrangements (A, B) are fitted with extraction openings (36,37,38) in their upper parts.
