Abstract

Procédé permettant l'utilisation de résiduum de pétrole lourd par conversion en un produit utile. Le procédé, dans un mode de réalisation, implique l'utilisation d'un résiduum de pétrole lourd sensiblement non liquide. La viscosité du résiduum est réduite par la chaleur ou la combinaison de chaleur et d'un diluant, puis il est mélangé à de l'eau de sorte que le mélange soit un mélange à cisaillement élevé. Il en résulte la formation d'une émulsion de résiduum prédispersé dans une matrice aqueuse. L'émulsion est formée de sorte que la matrice aqueuse présente une distribution de taille appropriée pour une utilisation en tant combustible.
