Abstract
Projectile non mortel ou projectile servant à transmettre une substance (éventuellement) et possédant un boîtier tubulaire (1) entourant un compartiment (2) servant à contenir cette substance. Ce compartiment (2) supporte de façon coaxiale un tube creux (5) formant une saillie vers l'avant à l'intérieur d'une coiffe ogivale (8). Une membrane gonflable (7) est placée à l'intérieur de la coiffe (8). Lors d'un impact sur une cible, la coiffe est déplacée et permet à une petite quantité de substance provenant du compartiment (2) de fuir à travers une ouverture (6), ce qui permet au piston (4) de se déplacer vers l'avant et de découvrir des orifices (16). Cet effet permet au gaz sous pression de passer à travers ces orifices (16) et de conduits afin de gonfler la membrane (7). Ce piston peut également se déplacer librement vers l'avant afin de décharger la substance à travers l'aiguille (5). De ce fait, le sac (7) se dilate rapidement et empêche toute pénétration excessive, tout en diffusant l'énergie de l'impact sur une zone étendue. La conception de ce projectile évite qu'une charge soit contenue à l'intérieur du projectile lui-même.
