Abstract

Selon divers aspects, la présente invention concerne une séquence d'acides nucléiques codant tout ou partie d'une nouvelle enzyme condensant les acides gras à chaînes longues (élongase d'acide gras), désignée ci-après KCS2 (pour béta-kétoacyl-coenzyme A synthase 2). Dans certains modes de réalisation, KCS2 peut induire la biosynthèse d'acides gras C18, C20, C22 et C24. L'activité de cette enzyme est généralement caractérisée par les additions de deux carbone(malonyl-CoA) aux fractions C16, C18, C20 et C22 (molécules acylCoA C16-C22), c'est-à-dire, la condensation de malonyl-CoA avec un acyl-CoA C16, C18, C20 ou C22. Les acides gras produits par l'enzyme peuvent, par exemple, être des acides gras 18 :0, 20 :0, 22 :0 et 24 :0 saturés. L'invention concerne des molécules d'acide nucléique de recombinaison comprenant une séquence de codage d'acides nucléiques hétérologues codant l'enzyme de condensation d'acides gras à chaînes longues de plantes.
