_ CA 02272030 1999-07-02 CARTOUCHE TUBULAIRE A OUVERTURE FRANGIBLE PAR BANDE DE
DECOUPE CYLINDRIQUE COAXIALE EXTERNE
WITH FRANGIBLE OPENING BY STRIP
EXTERNAL COAXIAL CYLINDRICAL CUT
The present invention relates to an opening system the frangible bottom of a cylindrical cartridge molded in degradable plastic more particularly intended to pasty products such as fats or the like.
Cartridges of such products are already known pasty, which have a closed tubular body, at one of its ends by a bottom coming from molding with the wall side of the body and at its other end by a plug removable closing the outlet of the cartridge. These 10 cartridges are intended for use with apparatus such as dispensing guns. For this purpose the user tears off the bottom of the cartridge beforehand to allow introduction through the passage as well formed, of a piston pushing back towards the outlet orifice pasty product contained in the cartridge.
The necessary recycling of the material used for the manufacture of these cartridges, led to replace the PVC by biodegradable products such as polyethylene; as much the PVC formerly used for the cartridges were easily cut to proceed the opening of the bottom, the polyethylene lends itself badly with the cutouts of the bottom practiced with blunt objects currents. We were therefore quickly led to seek out solutions to easily open the cartridge bottoms in polyethylene, which remain economically acceptable.
To this end, a solution has already been proposed by the Applicant in his French patent FR-2,709,732 in which the bottom of the grease cartridge is connected to the wall of the tubular body of said cartridge by a connection zone with less resistance so that its separation from tubular body when used in a dispensing gun, provides a clear passage through which can be engaged the piston of the gun which ensures the discharge of grease towards the outside of the cartridge.
According to this patent, the bottom of the cartridge consists of a strip extending spirally and flat from a
Such a device, if it is particularly suitable for degradable materials such as polyethylene, nevertheless has many disadvantages. the cartridge is opened by successive blows when detaching the turns successive and in addition, the spiral ribbon thus obtained is suddenly torn from the periphery of the tubular body of the cartridge, which has the unpleasant effect of projecting, at time of release of the tape which then behaves like a spring, the residual grease on the face of the spiral which was in contact with the grease before opening.
The object of the present invention is to provide a marked improvement in this frangible opening system cylindrical cartridge for pasty or analogous product, molded in a plastic material and usable in a piston distributor gun as tubular body for ensure in cooperation with said piston the delivery progressive pasty product through one end of said cartridge, in particular closed before use by a plug, the other end of the tubular body being, before use, closed by a frangible bottom coming from molding with the side wall of the body and the detachment provides as in the prior art cited, a clear passage ensuring free movement of the piston repression. According to the invention, this cylindrical cartridge is remarkable in that the detachment from the bottom of the side wall is obtained by a cutting strip cylindrical extending coaxially outside the cartridge from the bottom to a height sufficient to a good grip with a view to tearing it apart, being open on one side and connected on the other, on the one hand, by its outer diameter to the inner diameter of the side wall of the body by a first cutting fabric forming a
- 3 -first zone of least resistance and, on the other hand, by its internal diameter to the external diameter of the bottom by a second cutting fabric forming a second zone of less resistance, and it is still remarkable in this that the two webs and the annular edge of this other side of the strip are substantially coplanar with the end edge of the side wall with which they cooperate.
We understand the interest of the solution as well proposed by which we replace the cutting strip to flat of the prior art by a cutting strip cylindrical which avoids any spring effect and therefore projections of residual fat; similarly, such simple and effective solution provides an opening without shots from the cartridge as will be explained later.
According to another object of the invention, the extension a cylindrical cutting strip extending towards outside the tubular body of the cartridge, provides a fall and impact protection element of the cartridge before opening; indeed and in accordance with another characteristic of the invention, the strip of cylindrical cutout is provided to absorb pressure vertical without deforming the bottom of the cartridge; In this effect, protrusions are arranged in a crown or more simply at regular intervals, on the external surface cutting tape just above the first canvas cutting and parallel to it to come to plumb with the end edge of the side wall of the body on which said means would come to bear if the cartridge falls or hits the vertical free edge of the cutting strip.
Other features and advantages will emerge better from the description of a cartridge made of material biodegradable with a frangible opening conforming to the invention, which is given below by way of example not limitation of the invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings on which ones .
- Figure 1 is an elevational view of the cartridge in vertical position placed on its cap incidentally shown outside and inside according to partial removal.
- Figure 2 is a top view of Figure 1 showing the bottom of the cartridge fitted at its periphery of the cylindrical cutting strip according to the invention.
Figure 3 is a partial sectional view along lines III / III of Figure 2 showing double scale the general shape of the backdrop and its system of connection to the tubular wall of the cartridge body.
- Figure 4 shows on a scale five times larger compared to the previous figure, the detail of the connections between the side wall of the body of the cartridge, bottom and cylindrical cutting strip.
The cartridge of pasty product or the like, shown in Figures 1 and 2 is made of material molded plastic, preferably polyethylene which is a biodegradable material. It has a body tubular 1 which is closed at its upper end by a bottom 2 coming from molding with the side wall of the body 1 and which is closed at its lower end left open, by a removable plug 3 shown in section on the partial cutaway of Figure 1. This cartridge is intended for use in a dispensing device (not shown) after removing its bottom 2, so that allow gradual introduction into the body tubular of a movable piston, from top to bottom on the FIG. 1, which gradually expels the pasty product, here the grease, through the outlet at the bottom, the removable plug 3 having been removed beforehand.
Naturally this removable plug, 3 is necessary for proceed with the initial filling of the cartridge with product pasty for example from fat by the supplier of cartridge.
For the use of the cartridge in a pistol distributor, it is first necessary to remove the cap 3, but also to cut the bottom 2 so as clean as possible so as not to leave any burrs cutting and thus allow the free passage of the piston allowing to gradually push back the product. Account given the structure of polyethylene, we have planned according to the invention of connecting the bottom 2 to the upper end of the tubular body 1 of the cartridge, by at least one zone of lower resistance link 4 extending all around the bottom 2 thus providing a frangible opening of the cartridge.
To proceed with the tearing of said zone of connection 4, provision is made in accordance with the invention for have a cylindrical cutting strip 5 extending coaxially outward from the cartridge from the bottom 2 at a height sufficient to provide good grip for the user of the cartridge when it tears off the bottom ; naturally this cutout strip 5 comes directly from the molding of the cartridge under conditions injection system that is perfectly mastered by the skilled person. In reference to FIG. 4, this cutting strip 5 cylindrical is open at its end, i.e. towards the upper part of Figure 1 and it is connected the other side, on the one hand by its external diameter ~ at diameter p ~ of the side wall of the body 1 by a first cutting fabric 41 forming a first area of lower resistance 4, and on the other hand, by its diameter inside rte ', to the outer diameter. ~ from the bottom 2 by a second cutting fabric 42 forming a second zone of less resistance 4. According to another characteristic of the invention, the two canvases 41.42 and the edge annular 43 of the cutting strip 5 closest to the bottom 2, are substantially coplanar with the edge end 6 of the side wall of the body 1 corresponding to the bottom 2.
In this way, to open the bottom 2, it suffices to tear off the cutting strip 5 in the stain remover following these two lesser lines resistance 41.42 all around the bottom 2 which is thus released from the body 1 of the cartridge.
According to an important additional characteristic of the invention and with reference to Figures 1 and 2, for facilitate tearing of the cutting strip cylindrical 5, it is expected that the latter will be split from one side to the other over its entire height, so that allow its tearing by a radial force coming bypass the bottom 2 of the cartridge following the two cutting cloths 41,42 which tear easily in this movement. According to another characteristic complementary, the strip 5 is split along a cut 7 through and inclined, allowing the part upper 71 to be easily pulled sideways to unroll the strip 5 around the bottom 2 as it was said before; elements in relief where streaks 72 will be advantageously arranged in the upper part of grip 71 of the strip 5 ensuring a better grip during tearing efforts.
According to another construction variant, the strip of cylindrical cutout 5 has instead of the slot opening 7 in the previous variant, a simple initiation of rupture, for example a 7 'groove creating, line of least resistance, extending as in the other variant, from side to side over the entire height of the strip 5, preferably inclined, determining here still a gripping area for tearing said strip 5 by a radial force bypassing the bottom 2 of the cartridge following the two cutting fabrics which are tear in motion.
According to another important characteristic of the invention, the end 73 of the cutting strip 5 opposite the gripping area 71 after the tearing, includes a connection reinforcement 8. not shown in the Figure 2, with the bottom 2, intended to remove on a short distance, the weakening resulting from the second cutting fabric 42 resulting in joining on this distance, the cutting strip 5 with the bottom 2, which can thus be more easily brought along.
band 5.
It will be observed that according to this last execution 'CA 02272030 1999-07-02 _ 7 according to the invention, the opening of the cartridge can be do, unlike the prior art, without projections of pasty product, for example fat necessarily attached to the inner surface of the bottom 2. Indeed, for open the cartridge fitted with the device in accordance with the invention, it suffices to pull the cutting strip 5 to from its grip zone 71 by going around in the horizontal plane the bottom 2 while holding by the other hand said bottom 2 resting on the grease throughout the tearing operation. In this regard, it is advantageous have a central stud 9 in the center of the bottom 2 (figures 2 and 3) making it easier to maintain the bottom 2 during the whole tearing operation cutting 5.
Finally and according to one last strong characteristic important of the invention, there is a crown or more simply at regular intervals, as shown in Figure 2 of the protrusions 10 obtained directly at molding the strip in such a way that they extend 2o radially from the external surface of said strip 5 just above the first cutting fabric 41 and parallel to it, to come up to the end edge 6 of the side wall of the body 1 on which said protrusions 10 would come to bear in if the cartridge falls or hits the vertical free edge 11 of the cutting strip 5. The shape and arrangement of these protrusions 10 are such that in case longitudinal impact on the cutting fabric 41 in accordance with arrow F in FIG. 4, they come directly supported on edge 6 of the side wall of the body 1 limiting the vertical collapse of the strip 5 which, without the protrusions 10, would lead to an opening inadvertent shearing of the cutting fabric 41.
It can thus be seen that the cutting strip 5 conforms â the invention provides, on the one hand, remarkable ease opening the cartridge and at the same time protecting it in the event of a vertical fall.
