Abstract
Cette invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de caractériser in vivo les tissus de viscères épithéliales tapissées, y compris le canal endocervical, entre autres. Ce procédé consiste à illuminer la surface interne des viscères à l'aide de longueurs d'ondes de rayonnements électromagnétiques, ceci de manière produire plusieurs spectres à intensité de fluorescence. On mesure ensuite plusieurs longueurs d'ondes d'émission provenant des spectres à intensité de fluorescence, après quoi on caractérise les tissus des viscères épithéliales en fonction ces longueurs d'ondes d'émission. L'appareil décrit dans cette invention comprend les éléments suivants: une source lumineuse (17, 18) qui va émettre plusieurs longueurs d'ondes de rayonnements électromagnétiques; une sonde optique (11) connectée à la source lumineuse, laquelle sonde (11) va appliquer les longueurs d'ondes de rayonnements électromagnétiques à la surface interne des tissus des viscères épithéliales testés, puis collecter la fluorescence émise par les tissus; un détecteur (24, 26) qui est connecté à la sonde et qui va mesurer au moins un spectre de fluorescence émis par les tissus testés; et enfin, un ordinateur programmé (29) qui est connecté au détecteur et qui va traiter le ou les spectres de fluorescence en fonction d'un algorithme prédéterminé afin de caractériser les tissus testés.
