Abstract

Dispositif (50) de stockage et de surveillance d'une pluralité d'articles, comprenant au moins une armoire ou un dispositif de rangement (12) comportant une pluralité de réceptacles (26) dans lesquels les articles sont stockés. Dans une forme d'utilisation, le dispositif (50) sert à conserver une bibliothèque de bandes magnétiques (10) où d'autres supports d'informations associés à un centre de traitement de données. Chaque article est identifié au moyen d'un code respectif ou d'un numéro de fiche, les demandes concernant les articles parvenant au système sous forme de demandes relatives à un numéro de fiche particulier. Dans une forme de réalisation préférée, les articles peuvent être stockés de manière aléatoire dans n'importe quel réceptacle (26) de n'importe quel rangement (12). Le système (50) comprend un système d'appel et de recherche servant à identifier le rangement (12) dans lequel un article demandé est effectivement stocké et un système d'affichage (534) servant à afficher l'emplacement du rangement. Un ordinateur central (52) contrôle le fonctionnement du système, aucune base de données centrale des articles codés n'étant toutefois conservée, le stockage des numéros de fiches et de leurs utilisations précédentes s'effectuant directement dans les mémoires respectives (18) associées à chaque article codé.
