Abstract

A case processing line, for use in a decasing line for the removal of empty bottles from substantially rectangular cases.
The line removes the tops and portions of the side walls from cases of bottles, to expose the necks of the bottles to bottle lifting apparatus, and comprises, in combination, conveyor belt means for moving the cases through the line from end to end.
First and second saw means are located in relative proximity to one another, and arranged at the sides of the conveyor belt means to cut through the side walls of opposed sides of the cases, from end to end as the cases are moved past the first and second saw means by the conveyor belt means. Case orienting means are situated downstream of the first and second saw means, to present the uncut side walls of said cases towards the sides of the conveyor. Third and fourth saw means are located in relative proximity to one another, arranged at the sides of the conveyor belt means to cut through the remaining two side walls of the cases from end to end as said cases are moved past the third and fourth saw means by the conveyor belt means, thereby to sever the tops and a portion of the side walls of the cases from the remainder thereof.
