Abstract

A synthetic turf surface for golf courses, tennis courts and other grass-surfaced game playing fields is formed of a synthetic grass carpet having a flexible base sheet (14) with closely spaced-apart upright, blade-like strands (12) of plastic material forming a dense grass-like surface. The carpet is supported upon a cushioning underpad (18) which is formed of a thick, molded sheet of open cell, expanded bead polypropylene. The resiliently compressible polypropylene underpad combined with the synthetic grass carpet closely simulates the feel of a natural grass covered playing surface.

INVENTOR: ALAIN LEMIEUX
ASSIGNANT: 2752-3273 Québec inc SYNTHETIC GRASS OF SPECIFIC COMPOSITION
The invention consists in using in combination, a synthetic grass of composition specific, reinforced and bonded, using a layer of liquid polyurethane, to a base of

1. Tertre de golf et tapis de frappe;
L'invention permet ~ l'utilisation de vrais "tees' ;
2. Tapis d'allée ( "fairway" ); L'invention permet ~ d'amortir la balle à l'impact et de lui permettre de continuer à rouler sans modifier sa trajectoire;
COMPOSANTES:
1. Gazon , thétique:
~ Fibre synthétique 100% polypropylène;
~ Hauteur variant entre 5/8" et 7/8" selon l'utilisation sportive désirée;
~ Normes de tissage:
~ 3 600 à S 700 deniers;
~ 6 points au pouce;
~ 3/16 jauge;
2 "thick polypropylene. At strategic locations, said surface of grass is provided with ferites allowing the insertion of "tees" in said base jtexible, mistletoe keeps them in place as in your natural land) the width of a saw cut on various lengths. These slits are made across the width of the product in the weaving direction of the fibers.
This system serves as a striking mat for playing golf (strokes (drive) as well as iron strokes) and also as a tee off for golf courses and even for fairways.
SPECIAL FEATURES
1. Golf mound and striking mat;
The invention allows ~ the use of real "tees";
~ sticks (especially irons) pass under the ball by sliding in the fiber without offering resistance undue, reproducing the sensation of lifting a sod on a natural "fairway". (What allows players to use their irons in full swing at the right angle without having to suffer shocks and unpleasant vibrations harmful to concrete).
2. Fairway carpet; The invention allows ~ cushion the ball on impact and allow it to continue driving without changing its trajectory;
~ sticks (especially irons) pass under the ball by sliding in the fiber without offering resistance undue, reproducing the sensation of lifting a sod on a natural "fairway".
COMPONENTS:
1. Grass, aesthetic:
~ 100% synthetic polypropylene fiber;
~ Height varying between 5/8 "and 7/8" depending on the desired sports use;
~ Weaving standards:
~ 3,600 to S 700 denier;
~ 6 points per inch;
~ 3/16 gauge;
~ density varying between 34 and 42 ounces per square yard of equipment..
2. Absorption cushion:
Designed with a careful mix of expanded polypropylene beads, molded with heat and pressure. This polymerization produces an absorption cushion 2 "
thick, the particular property of which is to compress and dissipate in his own material (much like natural soil> much of the energy received upon impact.

3. Renforcement:

3. Reinforcement:
The back of said synthetic turf surface is coated with a layer about 1/8 "thick with liquid polyurethane adhesive. This adhesive serves as link between polypropylene surface and base and penetrates the loops of the weaving of fibers to reinforce them against tears caused by the impact of sticks.
