Abstract

L'invention concerne un matériau et un procédé améliorés utilisés pour assurer l'étanchéité d'appareils à plaques et cadre, tels que des échangeurs thermiques. Le matériau est composé d'une âme allongée de polytetrafluoroéthylène (PTFE) contenue dans un enrobage serré en film à haute résistance. Le matériau d'étanchéité possède les exceptionelles qualités fonctionnelles du PTFE, tout en étant résistant à l'écoulement à froid ou "fluage" qui déforme la plupart des joints en PTFE sous forte compression unidimensionnelle. Le matériau préféré est pré-compressé afin de rendre son installation plus aisée.
