Abstract

RM.0097.WO (21712-237) Abstract Apparatuses for broad-drawing running webs of material, in particular webs of paper, are known; in the wrap-around area, these are in the form of rollers and incorporate curved broad-drawing elements that are supported, spaced apart, in a frame, and are coupled so as to be pivotable.

In order to permit replicable setting as a function of the parameters of the web of material with only one setting parameter, according to the present invention the broad-drawing elements (4, 5) are each secured to the coupling element (10, 16) of a four-bar linkage, the two driving levers (9, 15) of the two four-bar linkages being coupled to each other through a gear system (20, 21, 22) so as to be pivotable in the same direction of rotation.

Description

RM.0097.WO ~21712-237) ~echnical Don!ain The present invention relates to an apparatus for broad-drawing running webs of m~terial, in particul.ar webs of paper, as set out in the preamble to patent claim 1.

~road-drawing devices of thi.s kind are used to prevent the formation of creases in wide webs of material that pass over deflecting rollers or to keep several individual webs of thi.s kind, which are moved parallel -to each other, at a constant di.stance apart. 'I`hus, in wi.nding machines that are used to wind the :individual web~ thut are produced b~ means of longitudinal cuts into rolls, once they have been cut longitudinally, the individual webs have to be spread apart sli~htly so that a specific spacin~ results between the long edges of the i.ndividual webs, this then ensuring problem-free wind;ng. When this is done, it is necessary that the webs are guided very precisely once they have been spread apart. As i.s known, the amount of spread and the direction of movement of the individual webs depends on the curvature of the broad-drawing elements, the distance between them, and the wrap-arourld angle of the webs.

'I'he Prlor Art EP-PS 0 066 527 describes a broad-drawing apparatus of thi.s type, in which the two broad-drawing elements are supported, spaced apart in a common, pi.voting frame. .~n order to permit adjustlllent of the desired ~pacing of the ind.ivi.dual webs from each other as a functi.on of the parameters Oe the webs of mflterial (width, thickness, etc.), the curvature of each of the two hroad-drawing elements is adjustable individually.

The apparatus that :is shown is thus costly from the standpoint of construction, and in addition the individual.ly adjustable RM.0097.WO (21~12-237) segments of the broad-drawing elements is difficult to replicate because of the numerous combinations that are possible.

De,sc _ption of the Invention It is the task of the present invention to create a broad-drawing apparatus of this kind, which per-mits replicable adjustment as a function of the parsmeters of the web of material, with only on adjustment parameter.

This task has been solved with the features set out in patent claim 1.

The present invention permits the infinitely variable pivoting of the two broad drawing elements with only one drive, so as to vary the spacing between them and the wrap-arourld ang1e in order to set up a de~ired spread. At the sallle time, durinK each adjustment, the wrap-around ratios and the relative position of the planes of curvature to each other are retained, so that the individual webs that leave the broad-drawing apparatus are exactly parallel at each setting.

The sub-claims describe preferred, nnd thlls pnrticular1y advnntageouq, embodiments of the preqent inventions.

Brle,f D sc_ ption of_the Draw_nRs The drawings appended hereto serve to explain the present invention on the basis of an embodiment that ;s shown in simplified form. 'I`hese drawings show the following:

Figure 2: A dingrammatic view of three different working positions.

RM.0097.WO (21712-237) Implementation of the Invention The broad-drawing system that is shown in ~igure 1 is installed within the frame of a machine that is used to wind a web oP
paper, said machine being used to roll up individual webs 1, forll~ed by means o~ longitudinal cuts, i.nto winding rolls. It is located between a guide roll 2 at the output of the l.ongitudinul cutter and the supporting roller 3, on which the winding rolls lie during the winding-up process.

The broad-drAw.i.ng system incorporates two roller-like broud-drawing elements 4, 5 that area constructed in the known manner and are o~ adjustable curvature; these are located in the wrap-around area. They are installed, spaced apart, transversely to the direction of movement o~ the webs, which wrap part way around them in alternating directions of rotation. Thus, the webs are fi.rst deflected upwards by broad-drawing element 4, and then downwards by broad-drawing element 5.

In order -that the individual webs 1 run widely spaced apart after being spread by the broad-draw:irl~ upl~aratl.ls, but sL:ill renlain parallel to each other, th~ broad-druw.irlg elelllellt~ ~l, 5 ~.II'Q S0 constructed and nrrunged that the pl~lne 6 Or the incoming webs l is essentially parallel to the plane 7 oE the outgoing webs 7.
In addition, to this end, the broad-drawing elements 4, 5 are curved in an arc :in one plane against the direction of movelllent of the web, the two planes Or curvatllre bei.ng parallel to each other .

The extent to which the individual webs 1 are spread apart can be adjusted by the spacing of the broad-drawing elements 4, 5 and Lhe parti.cu~.ar wrap-around an~le. Tn or(~er that the outgoirlg webs remain parall.el during adjustment;, the t>road-drawing elementR 4, 5 are 80 supported within the frame of the windi.ng RM.0097.WO (21712-237) Ill~lCtl ine Ih~t bolh o~ the plane8 of c~lrvature and the plRnes 6, 7 of the two webs remain essentially parallel to each other.

From the standpoint of construction, this has been done in that each of the broad-drawing elements 4, 5 is supported in a four-~)ur linkaRe, and the Lwo four-bar .linkages are coupled to each ol~ ouR~ a ~y~l;(?lll of 1.5earir~ thal, ~)rovides Ior a lixed transmission ratio. The four-bar linkage to which broad-drawing element 4 is connected comprises a driving lever 9, which is fixed within the frame so as to be rotatable about the point of articulation 8, a coupling element 10 that is articulated onto this, and a driven lever 11 that is articulated onto this and supported within the frame at the point of articulation 12.
Broad-drawing element 4 is fixed at the coupling element lO and secured at the point of articulation t3 between the driving lever 9 and the coupling element lO. The four-bar linkage to which broad-drawing element 5 is attached is constructed in the same way, and comprise~ a driving lever 15 that is supported at the point of articulation 14, a coupling element 16, and a driven lever 17 that i9 ~3ecured within the frallle ~t the po:int of articulation 18. The broad-drawing el.elllent 5 i8 ~u~pended at the point of artlculatiorl l9 and t`ixed at the coupling elemerlt l.6.

The two driving levers 9, 15 are coupled to each other through a gear system of a fixed transmission ratio; th;.s can be a circul.ating chain 20, for example, that connects two pinions 21, 22, each oP which i~ supported in points Or articlllntion 8 or 14 of the driving levers 9, 15, Iespecl;ively, in the flame, and fixed with the~e. 'I'he chain 20 is ~o arranged and connected to a .pivoting drive that the two driving levers 9, 15 pivot in the same direction of rotation and thus the two broad-drawing element~ 4, 5 can be moved towards and away from each other. The lever ratios at the two four-bar linkages and the positions of the fixed points of articulation 8, 12, 14, 18 are so selected that when the two driving levers 9, 15 are pivoted with the RM.0097.WO (21712-237) common drive system, the spacing of -the broad-drawing elements 4, 5 and the wrap-around ang.le change, but the planes of curvature of the two broad-drawirlg e1ements 4, 5 remain parallel and their angle to the planes 6, 7 remains constant. In the same way, the two wrap-around angles change to essentially the same extent, so that the plane 6 of the incoming webs 1 remains parallel to the plane 7 oP the outgoing webs l.

The broad-drawing elements 4, 6 are arranged on both sides of the webs L, in Pour-bar linltages, only one s:ide of which is shown in figure 1. At Least one puir of the ~:ixed points of articulation 8, 12, 14, or 18 is connected with each other on bo-th sides through a synchronizing shaft in order so as to ensure identical ad~justment of the broad-drawing elements on both sides of the webs 1; in the example, the points of articulation 8 are connected through the synchronizing sha~t 23. The two four-bar linkages or the couplings thereof are arrestable, so that the planes oP curvature oP the broad-drawing elements 4, 5 can be fixed at any angle, prePerabl.y paral.le:l to the planes (6, 7) of the incoming or outgoinK webs.
