Abstract
Acryloyl chloride is obtained by the reaction of acrylic acid on phenylchloroform, in the presence of at least one Lewis acid as catalyst and at least one polymerisation inhibiting agent. According to the invention, the catalyst is chosen among zinc oxide and zirconium tetrchloride and the reaction is brought to a temperature of at least 105 DEG C. In a preferred embodiment, the acrylic acid is added to the medium consisting of phenylchloroform, the catalyst and the polymerization inhibitor, and brought to a temperature of at least 105 DEG C, whereby the acryloyl chloride formed distils as soon as the acrylic acid is introduced. Acryloyl chloride is a highly reactive synthesis intermediate.
