Abstract
Abstract of the disclosure:
Depot body for the administration of active subs-tances by means of a nose-clip which has a trian-gular outline or an outline derived from a trian-gle and in case of necessity may be even oblong, the sides of the triangle directed towards the bow of the nose-clip forming an angle ? .
Depot body for the administration of active subs-tances by means of a nose-clip which has a trian-gular outline or an outline derived from a trian-gle and in case of necessity may be even oblong, the sides of the triangle directed towards the bow of the nose-clip forming an angle ? .
Description
1~7'77~;7 In German Offenlegungsschrift No. 2.902,414 depot bodies on the basis of silicone rubber are described, which may have different shapes. According to a preferred embodi-ment, they are cylindrical. The cited depot bodies are suitable for the administration of active substances by means of nose-clips as described in German Patent No.
2,125.464.
Nose-clips consisting of a bow the ends of which are provided with means for receiving active substances in the form of depot bodies, said ends of the bow and said receiv-ing means being inclined towards each other and turned to face each other, or the surfaces of the depot bodies mounte-thereon being inclined towards each other and turned to fac-each other are described in German Offenlegungsschrift No.
2,910,629.
Cattle are generally kept in stalls where they are either tethered or allowed to run freely. Calves may furthermore be kept in boxes. In the latter two cases. it has been observed that clips as described in the above Offenlegungsschrift with depot bodies of cylindrical shape were stripped off more frequently than in tethering stalls.
The intended effect of nose-clip administration of course is thus not attained.
By "cattle", there is to be understood in this context and hereinafter the bovine species, unless otherwise statec.
Surprisingly, it has now been found that when using depot bodies having a triangular outline, the clips remain in place in the case of all three kinds of stabling and the intended effect is thus ensured.
The invention provides therefore a depot body for the administration of active substances by means of a nose-cli?
consisting of a bow and means for receiving depot bodies, which has a triangular outline or an outline derived from triangle and in case of necessity many be even oblong; the sides of the triangle directed towards the bow of the nose-clip forming an angle~ of from 40 to 180 .
By outline there is to be understood that surface of the depot boày facing the receiving means, that ls, the '7 surface of the depot body supported by the receiving means or connecting parts as described in German Offenlegungs-schrift No. 2,910,629.
The sides of the triangle forming the angle~are de-fined as being sides 1 and 2, side 3 is positioned oppositeto the angle. They are rectilinear: alternatively, they may be dented or curved, so that outlines derived from a tri-angle are formed, for example outlines of kidney, kite or rhomb shape.
The invention will be better understood by reference to the accompanying drawing, the FIGURES of which represent:
FIGURE 1: outline, triangular FIGURE 2: outline, curved (kite-shaped) FIGURE 3: outline, dented (kidney-shaped) 5 FIGURE 4: side view of a depot body 4 with connecting parts 5, 6 and part of a bow 7.
The edges are rounded off in accordance with the ana-tomic conditions. It is not required that all three edges of the triangie are rounded off identically. The sides of the triangle may be of identical or different length.
Preferably side 1 is rectilinear, side 2 is curved concave-ly (dented), side 3 is curved convexly and the angle ~ is from 50 to 110, preferably 95~
The side of the depot body facing the nasal septum of the animal is rounded off, cone- or saddle-shaped, and adapted to the anatomic conditions in the nasal vestibule.
The depot body may be of identical overall thickness:
however, for technical and tolerability reasons and because of better fitting, a depot body is preferred the front part of which is thicker than the back part (that is, in the direction of the interior of the nose, see FIGURE 4,4).
The depot bodies of the invention are suitable for administering active substances to animals, especially cattle, by means of a nose-clip.
Suitable for this purpose is for example the nose-clip described in Ge,man Qffenlegungsschrift No. 2,910,629.
The depot bodies may be manufactured in principle ~rom ~i7770~
any appropriate material which is physiologically accept-able; preferred, however, are depot bodies on the basis of silicone rubber. They can be prepared according to the process disclosed in German Offenlegungsschrift No. 2,902,414 r
