Abstract

The said industrial design consists of the shape, configuration and ornamentation of an automobile instrument panel which is generally T-shaped in plan view; the instrument panel has a longitudinal front portion which merges into a lateral rear portion; the lateral rear portion has a left side section and a right side section with a slightly curved upper section extending across the left side and right side sections; the upper section has a smoothly curved raised area in the right side section which extends part way from the rear toward the front of the upper section; the left side section of the lateral rear portion has an intermediate section spaced below and extending slightly forwards from the adjacent upper section; the intermediate section has a narrow generally flat front upper surface with a forwardly pointing left end portion; the intermediate section has a lower portion which projects forwards beneath the narrow front upper surface thereof; beneath the intermediate section is a lower left side section which extends slightly forwards from the intermediate section and has an upper surface, a concave front surface and a generally flat left end surface; a wide scalloped depression having beveled side surfaces is situated beneath the upper section and separates the upper portions of the left side and right side sections; the right side section has a pair of adjacent generally identical cylindrical forwardly extending projections situated above a shield-like projection which extends upwards and forwards and has a flat front surface; the cylindrical projections are generally aligned with the curved raised area in the right side section of the upper section; the longitudinal front portion has a slightly enlarged rounded front end and a central bullet-like depression in plan view extending from the lateral portion part way along the length of the longitudinal front portion; an inclined section extends upwards and rearwards from within the central depression; the inclined section has a generally flat upper surface which extends around the wide scalloped depression and merges on the left side of the depression smoothly into the intermediate section of the left side section; a left side edge of the inclined section merges into the narrow front upper surface of the intermediate section.
