Abstract

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
An improved pallet which can be made of a plastic material for use with fork lift trucks and heavy loads such as cement bricks, can be made of a corrugated material wherein the corrugations are of a V shape and reinforcements can be attached to the apex of each of the V shaped corrugations to reinforce the plastic pallet.

Description

~0~ 0 I have invented a new and novel and improved plastic pallet. My device uses a corrugated construction to provide lightness in weight and stackability in pallets. Using my devic~
a fork lift truck may insert the kind of the lift in the grooves of the pallet in order to lift such items as cement bricks.
Furthermore, thickening at the apex of each of the segments of this pallet can provide additional strength to the pallet. Still further it is to be noted that because of the lightness of weight of this improved plastic pallet, these pallets may be more readily recovered from job sites and when no longer useable as pallets may find recycleable use in fencing and patio roofing.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a pallet comprising a loadbearing platform of unitary construction, said loadbearing platform being formed solely of a corrugated member which in vertical section is symmetrical about a medium horizontal plane, said corrugated member having planar flank portions which form corrugations thereof, said corrugations thereby being V-shaped in section with straight sides, and pointcA
apices and said corrugations further being continuous across said member such that the latter has a zig-zag shape in section, and the flank portions of the corrugations defining between them spaces suitable for receiving the tines of a fork lift truck, and a reinforcing thickening formed at the apices of said corrugations between the adjacent flank portions thereof.
My invention can be understood in view of the accompanying figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the pallet;
Figure 2 is a top view of the pallet;
Figure 3 is a front view of the pallet;
Figure 4 is a close up of a portion of the front of the pallet.
With regard to figures 1, 2, 3 and 4, an improved lO~ O

corrugated plastic pallet 10 is seen to have a plurality of V-shaped corrugations 12 a-t the apex of each of which reinforcing thickenings 14 and 16 have been formed. Planar flank portions 17 form the V-shaped corrugations so that the latter have straight sides. Thus the tines of a fork lift truck can be inserted within the V shaped corrugations to lift the truck while the reinforcements strengthen the pallet in supporting the load.
Having described a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is understood that various changes can be made without departing from the spirit of my invention, and, I desire to cover by the appended claims all such modifications as fall within the true spirit and scope of my invention.
