Abstract

"MéTODOS PARA SELECIONAR UM ANIMAL PARA TER PROPRIEDADES DESEJADAS GENOTìPICAS OU FENOTìPICAS EM POTENCIAL, PARA MODULAR A TRANSCRIçãO DE MRNA DE UM GENE IGF2 EM UMA CéLULA OU ORGANISMO PROVIDO COM REFERIDO GENE E PARA IDENTIFICAR UM COMPOSTO, COMPOSTO, COMPOSIçãO FARMACêUTICA, E, USO DE UM COMPOSTO". A invenção refere-se a métodos para selecionar animais, como mamíferos, particularmente animais domésticos como animais de criação ou animais destinados para o abate de modo a terem desejadas propriedades genotípicas ou fenotípicas em potencial, particularmente relacionadas com a massa muscular e/ou deposição de gordura ou, no caso de manúferos, ao número de tetas. A invenção provê um método para selecionar um animal para ter as desejadas propriedades genotípicas ou fenotípicas em potencial compreendendo testar o referido animal, um parental do referido animal ou sua progênie para a presença de modificação de ácido nucleico afetando a atividade de uma ilha CpG conservada evolucionária, localizada no intron 3 de um gene IGF2 e/ou pela presença de uma modificação de ácido nucleico afetando a ligação de um fator nuclear para um gene IGF2.
