A invenção descrita aqui se relaciona a um método de tratar fibras, filamentos ou filmes de material plástico para melhorar a sua resistência à degradação por radiação de UV e/ou aumentar a sua resistência à transmissividade ao gás (oxigênio) e um material plástico melhorado assim tratado, o método incluindo esticar a fibra, o filamento ou o filme além do seu ponto de elasticidade e permitir que o filme relaxe pelo menos parcialmente.
