Abstract

"PEPTìDEO, COMPOSIçãO TERAPêUTICA, E, PROCESSO PARA CONFERIR IMUNIDADE PROTETORA A UM PACIENTE, CONTRA A INFECçãO DE S. PNEUMONIAE" A invenção provê um ácido nucleico codificando a proteína A de adesina superficial pneumocócica 37-kDa (PsaA) de Streptococcus pneumoniae. São também providos ácidos nucleicos isolados compreendendo um fragmento único de pelo menos 10 nucleotídeos da proteína 37-kDa. A invenção também provê polipeptídeos purificados codificados pelo ácido nucleico codificando a proteína 37-kDa de, e os ácidos nucleicos compreendendo, um único fragmento de pelo menos 10 nucleotídeos da proteína 37-kDa. A invenção ainda provê anticorpos monoclonais que seletivamente se ligam à PsaA. Além disso, são providos peptídeos que imunoespecificamente se ligam aos anticorpos monoclonais da invenção, e que são imunogênicos contra a infecção por Streptococcus pneumoniae. São providas também vacinas que compreendem tais polipeptídeos imunogênicos, e processos que conferem imunidade protetora contra a infecção por Streptococcus pneumoniae, mediante a administração de composições terapêuticas que compreendam os peptídeo imunogênicos da invenção. São igualmente providos processos para detectar a presença de Streptococcus pneumoniae em uma amostra, usando-se anticorpos ou antígenos, e processos para prevenir e tratar da infecção por Streptococcus pneumoniae em um paciente. Além disso, fornece-se um processo para identificar a seq³ência de um peptídeo potencialmente capaz de eliciar imunidade protetora contra um microorganismo patogênico.
