Abstract
<B>APARELHO E MéTODO PARA DETECçãO DE LOCOMOTIVAS PELO MONITORAMENTO DA ORIENTAçãO DAS MESMAS<D> é revelado um aparelho para determinar a rotação de um truque de rodas em um veículo ferroviário e adicionalmente para determinar a direção relativa de movimento do truque com relação ao veículo ferroviário e adicionalmente para determinar a taxa na qual o truque se desloca com relação ao veículo ferroviário, o qual é um sensor de radar de baixa potência disposto embaixo do veículo ferroviário e direcionado para o truque. Em uma modalidade preferida, são mostrados dois sensores que são dispostos em lados opostos do veículo ferroviário. Os sensores são acoplados com um dispositivo de computação a bordo e com outros componentes de um sistema de controle de trens os quais podem ser usados para localizar precisamente o trem em vias paralelas pouco espaçadas e adicionalmente para atualizar e aumentar informação de posição utilizada pelo sistema de controle de trens. O sistema incluindo receptores GPS e tacómetros de roda para proporcionar fontes alternadas de informação para determinação de posição.
