A presente invenção se refere a uma estrutura de proteção flexível e leve, a qual resulta extremamente adequada para ser utilizada como joelheira, tornozeleira, protetor de músculos e outros, ou mesmo para constituir a estrutura básica para a conformação de capacetes, faixas para tórax, ou mesmo luvas de proteção, que costumam ser necessárias para a prática de esportes em geral. A estrutura de acordo com a presente invenção se destaca por ser muito leve, flexível e ter um alta capacidade para absorver impactos, sem transmitir os mesmos. A estrutura consiste de uma malha conformada a partir de raios helicoidais entrelaçados entre si. A malha está dobrada sobre si mesma definindo pelo menos uma cavidade interna onde se alojam nervuras de reforço.
