Descreve-se um processo e uma instalação para a fabricação de filamentos, particularmente filamentos de PTFE, a partir de uma fita. De forma a obter filamentos com pequeno título, porém com alta resistência à ruptura, o processo de acordo com a invenção inclui as seguintes etapas: - estirar a fita mediante aplicação simultânea de calor; - cortar a fita de modo a se produzir filamentos individuais; e - estirar os filamentos mediante simultânea aplicação de calor, sendo que na etapa de estirar a fita, expõe-se a fita a uma temperatura entre 240°C e 350°C e na etapa de estirar os filamentos, expõem-se os filamentos a uma temperatura entre 330°C e 420°C e sendo que nas etapas de estiragem da fita e dos filamentos, a taxa de estiragem se encontra na faixa de 50 a 10.000 %/seg.Invention Patent: <B> "PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF FILAMENTS, PARTICULARLY PTFE FILAMENTS, AND INSTALLATION FOR THEIR EXECUTION" <D>.
