Abstract

"PROCESSOS PARA PREPARAR PLANTAS MASCULINAS ESTéREIS, PARA A RESTAURAçãO DE FERTILIDADE EM UMA PLANTA MASCULINA ESTéRIL, PARA PRODUZIR UMA LINHAGEM MASCULINA ESTéRIL HOMOZIGóTICA, E PARA A PRODUçãO DE PLANTAS HìBRIDAS FéRTEIS, PLANTAS HìBRIDAS FéRTEIS, VETOR, CEPA DE AGROBACTERIUM, PLANTAS TRANSFORMADAS COM A CEPA DE AGROBACTERIUM, MASCULINA ESTéRIL, E, LINHAGEM MASCULINA ESTéRIL HOMOZIGóTICA". A presente invenção está direcionada para a produção de plantas masculinas estéreis dotando-se as mesmas com um DNA recombinante capaz de expressão específica, no sistema reprodutivo masculino de uma planta, da enzima trealose fosfato fosfatase (TPP). A restauração da fertilidade pode ser estabelecida dotando-se as referidas plantas masculinas estéreis com um DNA recombinante capaz de expressão de trealose fosfato sintase (TPS) sob o controle de um promotor induzível ou com um DNA recombinante capaz de expressão de uma proteína supressora que suprime a expressão da TPP sob o controle de um promotor induzível. Esta(s) possibilidade(s) de restauração induzível permite(m) a manutenção de uma linhagem masculina estéril homozigótica. A restauração também pode ser realizada pulverizando-se as plantas masculinas estéreis com ácido giberelínico. Para a produção de híbridos ou de sementes híbridas proporciona-se um sistema de recombinação específica-para-sítio inserindo-se dois sítios de recombinação esecíficos-para-sítio flanqueando o DNA recombinante codificando para TPP e cruzando as linhas masculinas estéreis com linhas que expressam a recombinase correspondente. Cruzando-se a recombinase obtém-se a excisão do gene codificante para TPP e produz-se híbridos férteis. específicos-para-sítio flanqueando o DNA recombinante codificando para TPP e cruzando as linhas masculinas estéreis com linhas que expressam a recombinase correspondente.
