Em um freio a disco com duas pastilhas de freio (4, 6) opostas e dispostas nos dois lados de um disco de freio (2), que, para frenagem são comprimíveis no disco de freio (2), sendo que as pastilhas de freio (4, 6) consistem em uma placa de suporte (8) e uma camada de revestimento de fricção (10, 12) disposta sobre a mesma e sendo que as camadas de revestimento de fricção (10, 12) apresentam regiões (14, 16, 18, 20) com espessura de camada reduzida, está previsto que as pastilhas de freio (4, 6), dispostas nos dois lados do disco de freio (2), não estejam dispostas de modo especularmente simétrico, em relação às regiões (14, 16, 18, 20) com espessura de camada reduzida.
