The invention also provides a process comprising the step of treating the surfaces of the paratos with a composition as described. The hydrophobic oil-soluble side chains of the polymer are believed to divide into oil droplets, while the hydrophilic backbone remains in the water phase to stabilize the droplets against agglutination through a combination of stereo impedance and electrostatic repulsion.
