Abstract

The present invention relates to a container comprising a load of consumer goods which is wrapped in an inner liner, wherein the inner liner comprises an opening flap assembly which is comprised of a tear-out front section and a back section that tears into the inner liner that overlap in an envelope-like fold and are affixed together at the top of the inner liner wrapper.

Description

[001] The present invention relates to a container for consumer goods with a wrapper. The container finds specific application as a container for elongated smoking articles such as cigarettes.

[002] Smoking articles, such as cigarettes and cigars, are commonly packaged in hinged lid containers having a box and a lid connected to the box over a hinge line extending through the rear wall of the container. Such hinged lid containers are typically constructed from one-piece laminar paperboard dies. In use, the lid is hinged about the hinge line to open the container and thus gain access to the wrapped smoking articles disposed within the box.

[003] The wrapping of smoking articles disposed within the box is typically wrapped in an inner liner of foil paper, metal foil or other flexible foil material. To access wrapped smoking articles within the inner liner of an unopened container, a consumer typically must first open the lid of the container and remove a pre-perforated top portion or pull tab from the inner liner.

[004] European patent EP2155568 discloses a hinged lid container with a sealed wrapper in which the sealed wrapper opens automatically when the lid of the container is opened. However, sealed packaging is relatively expensive and requires non-standard machinery to produce it at high speeds. It would be desirable to have a simple facility to produce an auto-opening pack. An object of the invention is to provide a container for consumer goods that simplifies the opening of the container.

[005] According to a first aspect of the invention, a container for consumer goods is provided, wherein the container comprises a housing with a box and a lid, wherein the lid is pivotally coupled to the box along a line hinge of the lid and the lid comprises a front wall. Additionally, the container comprises a package of consumer goods disposed within the compartment. The wrapper comprises a top wall projecting from the box and the wrapper further comprising an inner liner which is folded around the consumer goods to form the wrapper. The inner liner forms an envelope-like fold on the top wall of the wrapper. According to the invention, the envelope-like fold comprises an upper front innerliner flap, wherein the upper front innerliner flap is dependent from the front panel of the innerliner, and an upper rear innerliner flap, wherein the upper rear flap of inner liner hangs from the inner liner back panel. The upper front innerliner flap and the upper rear innerliner flap are arranged such that the upper front innerliner flap and the upper rear innerliner flap at least partially form an overlap.

[006] Furthermore, the inner liner comprises a tear-out front section that hangs from the front panel of the inner liner along a line of weakness, wherein the tear-out front section forms part of the upper front flap of the liner internal. Furthermore, the inner liner comprises a rear tear-in section that hangs from the inner liner of the back panel along a rear weakening line, wherein the rear tear-in section forms part of the upper rear flap of the inner liner at the overlap area. Additionally, the inner liner further comprises a back flap adhesive area in the overlap area, wherein the back flap adhesive area permanently attaches the tear-out front section to the tear-in back section in the overlap area. Thus, an opening flap assembly is created such that the opening flap allows access to consumer goods housed within the package.

[007] According to the invention, by simply providing two weakening lines, one on the front and one on the back and applying an adhesive, an opening flap is created from a standard inner liner wrap that can be used by a consumer to open and close the package. At the same time, outside the opening flap, additional protective inner liner is retained around the top front part of the wrapper so that additional protection for consumer goods is provided, for example for the filter ends of smoking articles. outside the access opening created by the opening flap assembly. Container (10) for consumer goods comprising: a compartment comprising a box (14) and a lid (20) hingedly attached to the box (14) along a hinge line, wherein the lid (20 ) comprises a front wall; a package (40) of consumer goods disposed within the compartment, the package (40) comprising an upper wall projecting from the box (14) and the package (40) further comprising an inner liner which is folded around the consumer goods to form the package (40), such that the inner liner forms an envelope fold in an upper wall of the package (40), the envelope fold comprising: an upper front flap of the liner an inner liner (42) wherein the inner liner upper front flap (42) hangs from an inner liner front panel, an inner liner upper rear flap (44) wherein the liner upper rear flap (44) ) hangs from a back panel of the liner such that the upper front liner flap (42) and the upper rear liner flap (44) at least partially form an overlap (70), and at that the inner liner comprises a tear-out front section (50) that hangs from the parent front level of the liner along a line of front weakness (52), wherein the front tear-out section (50) forms part of the upper front flap of the liner (42), and where the liner comprises a back tear-in section (60) depending from the back panel of the inner liner along a back weakening line (62), wherein the back tear-in section (60) forms part of the upper back flap of the liner (44) in the area of the overlap (70), and wherein the inner liner further comprises a back adhesive area of the flap in the area of the overlap (70), wherein the back adhesive area of the flap permanently secures the tear-away front section (50) with the tear-in back section (60) in the area of the overlap (70), creating an opening flap assembly, wherein an opening flap allows access to the consumer goods housed within the package (40) , and characterized by the fact that the opening flap assembly is fixed Attached to an inner surface of the lid (20) by a front adhesive area (54) so that, upon opening the lid (20), the opening flap assembly is separated from the inner liner along lines of weakness (52 , 62) and hinged to the remainder of the inner liner along a hinge line of the opening flap assembly, and wherein a tear-out front section cross-width (50) is greater than a back-section cross-width which tears inwards (60). 2. Container (10) according to claim 1, characterized in that the rear section that tears inwards (60) underlies the front section that tears outwards (50) in the overlapping area (70). 3. Container (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 2, characterized in that the rear section that tears inwards (60) extends from a rear wall of the wrapper (40) to the rear flap top of the inner liner (44). 4. Container (10), according to claim 3, characterized in that the rear line of weakness (62) comprises the C-shaped sections on the rear wall of the wrapping (40) that enclose the line of weakness on both the sides. 5. Container (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the front section that tears out (50) extends from a front wall of the package (40) to the front flap top of the inner liner (42). 6. Container (10), according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that it further comprises an internal structure (30) arranged inside the box (14), in which the internal structure (30) comprises a wall front and a pair of opposing side walls (36). 7. Container (10), according to claim 6, characterized in that the internal structure (30) is arranged between a front wall of the box (14) and the package (40). 8. Container (10), according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that an internal reinforcement is arranged inside the wrapping (40). 9. Container (10), according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it also comprises consumer goods, in which the consumer goods are housed in the package (40), in which the consumer goods are articles to smoke. 10. Method for forming the container (10) for consumer goods as defined in any one of claims 1 to 9, comprising the steps of: - supplying a load of consumer goods; - providing an inner liner, the inner liner comprising a front tear-out section (50) and a back tear-in section (60); - provide adhesive on a back adhesive area; - wrapping the inner liner around the load of consumer goods to form a package (40), so that an envelope-like fold is created at the top of the package (40); such that the front tear-out section (50) and the rear tear-in section (60) overlap in the rear adhesive area; - adhering the front tear-out section (50) and the rear tear-in section (60) to the rear adhesive area to form a set of opening tabs; - providing a container blank matrix of a container (10) comprising a box section and a lid section; - providing the adhesive in a front adhesive area (54) on the front tear-out section (50) of the inner liner; - assembling the container (10) around the wrapping (40) characterized in that - fixing the set of opening flaps on an inner surface of the lid (20) by a front adhesive area (54) so that, upon opening the lid (20), the opening flap assembly is separated from the inner liner along lines of weakness (52, 62) and hinged to the remainder of the inner liner along a hinge line of the opening flap assembly, and wherein a tear-out front section cross-width (50) is greater than a tear-in rear section cross-width (60).
