Abstract
a presente invenção se refere a esferas sinterizadas, obtidas a partir da lama vermelha, compreendendo pelo menos óxido de alumínio, óxidos de ferro, óxido de silício e óxido de titânio, caracterizadas pelo fato de que a circularidade e a esfericidade das esferas sinterizadas são superiores a 0,6. é ainda descrito um processo para a produção de esferas sinterizadas, compreendendo as seguintes etapas: a) fornecer lama vermelha, sendo um resíduo da produção de alumina; b) opcionalmente ajustar o valor do ph da lama vermelha a um valor menor que 9; c) granular a lama vermelha da etapa b) sob secagem contínua; d) sinterizar o granulado da etapa c). é aqui também descrito o uso de esferas sinterizadas como propantes em processos de faturamento hidráulico ou como agregados ou agregados finos leves (lwfa) para fins de construção ou para processos de solidificação geológica.
