Abstract

a invenção fornece um processo para a preparação de glicóis a partir de uma matéria-prima que contém sacarídeos que compreende as etapas de: (a) prepa-rar uma mistura de reação em um recipiente de reator que compreende a matéria-prima que contém sacarídeos, um solvente, um componente de catalisador com ca-pacidades catalíticas de retroaldol e um primeiro catalisador de hidrogenação que compreende um elemento selecionado a partir dos grupos 8, 9 e 10 da tabela perió-dica; (b) fornecer gás hidrogênio à mistura de reação no recipiente de reator; (c) mo-nitorar a atividade de hidrogenação no recipiente de reator; (d) quando a atividade do primeiro catalisador de hidrogenação diminuir, conforme indicado pelo cruza-mento de um limiar, fornecer à mistura de reação, no recipiente de reator, um pre-cursor de catalisador que compreende um ou mais elementos selecionado a partir dos grupos 8, 9, 10 e 11 da tabela periódica; e (e) converter o precursor de catalisa-dor, na presença de hidrogênio no recipiente de reator, em um segundo catalisador de hidrogenação para complementar a atividade de hidrogenação diminuída no re-cipiente de reator.
